Has anyone had experience with bags with hardware made out of Zamak. Are there any drawbacks?

Hi all - just joined the site.  Love this thread on briefcases.

I recently bought this Brioni bag and curious what others think.

It has a sleeve for a computer inside along with one zippered pouch.

It's a nice computer bag. Simple model.

But I prefer all leather on mine.

What bag is this?
And where can I get this?

Thanks

Hi, the bag was made by a Danish leather smith called Claus Broe. He focusses on his product, there is no merchandising, no branding, no logo. The product should speak for itself.
As there are no seams, the leather will break in and the bag will loose shape a little. So you get another kind of expression compared to a British briefcase.
As mentioned when I posted the pics a few years ago, the bag is a shoulder bag, but you can fold the strap and hold the bag as a briefcase. The model shown is the big one (GB014), that Claus calls a postman's bag. The leather strap is rather long, you'll wear the bag at your hip. I also own the smaller model called GB004, which corresponds better to the size of a briefcase. It is more versatile, and the leather strap is shorter so you'll wear the bag somewhat above your hip.

Claus has his own little internet boutique, only in Danish though, but he also speaks English. Prices are in Danish kroner, incl. 25% VAT.
Here you can see the different models. Every bag is handmade by Claus and Gorm Brint, who made the original design of the bags back in the beginning of the 1970ies.

Interesting design - not sure it would be for me but simple and elegant and nicely done

Anyone know of a bag comparable to this but less expensive? Love the natural leather and minimal hardware.

Anyone ever purchase an Ashton briefcase?

Namely this one:

But in brown.

Opinions? Quality? I'm buying it new but for much less then the Ashton site price.

Purchased this weekend - Hermes Sac a Depeche 41 in Bleu Obscur. Totally awesome and for me the perfect everyday case.
