So i need to find out for myself how much i really was into leicas. played around with an M8, which is ancient by digital standards, 10MP CCD sensor with no IR filter built in makes it really quirky but capable of fantastic prints. I'm not gonna give any kind of review. I'm just surprised but the incredibly small file sizes
I walked around for a day with a zeiss 25/2.8 and 50/2, and while the rangefinder focusing was fun i didn't really feel anything magical. certainly not like what Wim Wenders told me i should feel (marketing ftw!)
. i didn’t feel any enchantment, walking around snapping pics i felt like i was just carrying this expensive brand. i wasn’t inspired by the equipment. This is *maybe* the only pic I took that I found interesting.
I guess I need to go out way more like i used to, and now that I'm moving the environment will be far more conducive to photography, I hope. But I think I'll stick to my trusty and considerably cheaper setup but just keep the zeiss 50, it's razor sharp even wide open and can be a mini-tele/less claustrophobic portrait lens. i think i just need to enjoy photography for what it is, and not fall into GAS. it's the exploration, capturing a vision, and bringing it to life to share, that's what is important. not what you use (*status symbols?*)
[sorry if obvious, just good to have experienced this]Edited by the shah - 6/29/16 at 10:08am
