Ideally, yeah, but the 50mm is about half the price, and does a damn good job, really great entry level lens.

So stick w. the T1i and don't switch?
Also considering the 35mm f/2 and the Sigma 30mm.

The 15-85 still seems to be one of the best choices.

Home for the mother's day and graduation, found some very old scans I forgot I had. Here's one of my absolute favorites, lots of memories in this roll, shot on kodachrome and hand delivered to the last place in the universe that was still developing the film at Dwayne's Photo in Parsons, Kansas.

It was early autumn on the Appalachian Trail, where we were camping at this absolutely amazing outcropping with all of my friends. One of the first few trips I made up there, and I remember how glorious it was. I mean, the air is so incredibly clear and we just had this perfectly amazing view of the mountains, sunset and sunrise was a magical experience. I remember we met a bunch of older dudes there who were working for the government/non-profit organizations/were public defenders, probably in their 40s-50s, hiking along the trail and camping nearby us with their dogs. They stopped by our site and hung out with us, chatted, offered us some weed, and it was something else to experience something so grand and majestic and beautiful with both your closest friends and complete strangers.

I can't find any of my own scans of the view, but here is one that my friend snapped at dawn. "Good morning, Appalachia"

One from my early days of college, I had just finished staying up all night at a friend's place writing a final paper. Went out for a walk and a cigarette as the sun was rising and snapped this on a disposable I had. Afterwards, drove a few hours up to the Appalachian Mountains for a backpacking trip. Crazy how vividly I remember this and all the feelings of sleepiness and excitement I had

Sun was setting, clouds were coming in, dust was clearing, jet flew past.

God damn you've just made me want to shoot some more black and white. That last shot is great, it's got real atmosphere.

Happiest I've been with a g-trans inspired shot:
