Inspired by this picture, I almost bought a pair of plain brown crocs from Church about 15 years ago. They cost maybe double what top-of-the-line calf sold for, so about $600. But they were on an oddly wide last, and double soled. Plus, I didn't really have the money. If I wanted to do it now, they would have to be bespoke, and I don't even want to know what that would cost.

These ones are beautiful. They are more beautiful in person and definitely the nicest exotic which I have seen. I like alligator/crocodile for belts especially in interesting colors.

Most shoes made with regular leather look ugly, so of course shoes made with exotics can look ugly too. When done with the right balance (very subjective) I think exotics look very nice.

I can't ever see myself rocking "exotic skin" shoes, even the ones LK posted. A croc watch band for sure, and maybe when I'm over 50 a croc briefcase, but never shoes.

Lizard , I think, tends to look like plastic.
It wears quite well though. ( It might be right for your Minox case.)

I've always thought wallets look best with an exotic, especially when you pull it out to pay a bill.

Years ago, I was involved in a deal to sell chicken feet to the Asian market.

I asked what was being done with the goods.

The skin was being used for watch bands.
I checked it out. They looked pretty good!
Looked alot like lizard.

Lizard doesn't have that sheen of say, crocodile. Although I tend to think ostrich looks rather flat. For the Minox case, it seems a shark might also work. I also have an entire stingray skin that hasn't been cut yet which I might consider. I have a vintage crocodile belly Asprey wallet which looks fantastic; and yet it has a certain discreet factor about it. Chicken feet skin sounds very interesting. I'm sure it's cheaper than lizard as well.

Ask kitonbrioni - he has shoes made from every animal that has ever walked the earth. He must have been aboard Noah's ark or something, to be able to get a collection like that.

The stingray would be perfect!
I think the shark might add too much bulk.

I wonder how many chicken feet it would take to cover a Minox case.
There's something oddly apropos about a chicken foot skin Minox case.

Believe it or not, the markup for allligator or crocodile with G&G or Cleverley should only be on the order of 90% or 100% over equivalent shoes in calfskin. $6300 or $6400 for a pair of bespoke alligator shoes is obscene, but it's less obscene than the $6800 that JL Paris charges for their RTW crocodile shoes.
