True, however it also helps to rid one of the intense anger one tends to feel (towards the criminal) in these situations.

How can you call someone completely evil? That is a particularly asinine statement.

Sometimes LK is just better to keep quiet lest you come across as inhuman, which I know for you is hard to do.

It seems he thinks his opinions are too profound to be kept to himself.

There is no way to stop these type of tragedies from occuring. Allowing people who qualified for their respective State's Concealed Carry License to cary their weapons everywhere and not inventing idiotic "Gun Free Zones" is the only way to limit the damage dangerous maniacs like this can inflict.

There are plenty of instances when a citizen with a gun stoped a crimininal intending on killing others. Popular media chooses to under-report this since for some reason it is considered not politically correct.

This is conclusory punditry. You have no way of knowing whether that would have made a difference. You also have no way of knowing, if students could freely keep guns on campus, how many innocent people would be killed through pure accidents, drunken/drugged behavior, post-adolescent impulsiveness, etc.

like I had said earlier, this is one of those cases where an armed individual could have influenced the situation.

in many of the cases in israel where a palestinian shooter opened fire on random civillians in a mall or market or street - the one who ended up killing the terrorist was a civillian with a pistol.

Humanity is less about labelling people what they aren't but more about understanding the compulsions. Did not Boccaccio write, "Human it is to have compassion on the unhappy”?

I don't know anything about guns.

What is a handgun that can shoot 32 rounds in what I assume is rapid succession and reloaded in 2 seconds with another 32 bullets used for?

Yeah, it's society's fault.

If an ability to see people as more complicated than simply insane or evil is considered a cyborg, then I should be a Fritz Lang prop.

People wish to label the instigators of tragic events as evil so as to mitigate their own emotive distress and find a nice excuse.

Labelking, Hopkins, and Whnay,

If you can't all be civil with one another, please feel free to STFU. I recognize that this is an extremely topical subject, so please consider what you are posting before you hit "submit post".

Thanks.

Fok.

Clarification: I am not shutting down any exchange here. I just require that all parties behave with a degree of civility.

LK, seriously, what are you talking about? Nobody's trying to do anything of the sort. They are simply saying what happened. Some nutcase shot over 50 people.

Your advocacy for "understaning" makes absolutely no sense. What exactly are you asking us to do? Empathize with the murderer? Should we erect a statue in his honor?

Your statement makes no sense.
