Actually, nevermind.  I will remain mum from now on and just take my lickings.  Please forgive my previous insolence.  Any more opinions about the "asterisk" would be appreciated, be they sardonic, sanguinary, or educational.

The asterisk is actually a star, meaning these shoes are only suitable for night wear. For daytime shoes, look for a sun. Hope this helps.

OP, I realize you caught some snark right away from the first few repliers. But, Jesus Christ, it's the internet. That star just means the shoes were made in Italy.
