Is this overcoat versatile?

While I think that brown is versatile - you may hear that navy or charcoal are a better choice for a first coat (though you did not specify whether that was the case).

I think the question was more oriented towards context. Work environment, typical attire and whatnot. Extremely conservative office where brown shoes would look out of place, or tech startup where wearing a polo gets you quizzical looks?

I think it's a very versatile coat, personally. I would wear it in all but the most formal environments, and in any less formal environment where a traditional wool overcoat wouldn't look stupidly out of place. But if you worked in a British investment bank, you might have some issues.

Good question - both ability to match other colors and ability to match situations? How about your definition?
