The 16th pick, and not wanting to pay 80 million dollars over 6 years for LJ. As far as the pick not making sense, remember that you're talking about the Chiefs, who drafted LJ when they had the league MVP in Holmes...

I'll eat my Chiefs hat if they end up trading LJ. They desperately need WR help.

Any bets on which draft pick will wear the suit with the most buttons?

No way the Chiefs would take only a middle-to-late 1st round for LJ IMO. The consensus seems to be that the Packers would need to part with the 16th just to get Michael Turner, who despite his obvious talent is nowhere near the established superstar LJ is. In any case, since teams interested in either RBs would need to get some kind of contract agreement in less than 24 hours, I don't see either (especially LJ, considering the magnitude of both the trade package and his potential contract) moved before the draft.

I wish I were the GM for the Houston Texans.

I would give up our 1st round draft pick (10th overall) and $80,000,000 of Bob McNair's money in a heartbeat for LJ.

I figure Lynch will be a Packer.

The problem with the Chiefs is they don't have the cap space to pay a potential 80M contract for Johnson. Even considering the cap room they have for rookie contracts, they only have 7M of room right now. After Trent Green is traded, that will increase a bit, but considering LJ wants like $20M guaranteed money, that will be a huge cap hit. Right now I'm hearing Turner will probably go for a 2nd round pick tomorrow.

I see your point, but LJ is under contract through 2008. Considering the Chiefs can also franchise-tag him another year or two, even if they can't afford his service, this wouldn't be the right time to pull the trigger.

I like Pro Football Talk's Rumor Mill section. Quite sentionalistic, nonetheless a boatload of information. They're saying Randy Moss would get traded to either the Packers or Pats for a 4th round pic. Intriguing.

I disagree. I think it's exactly the time to pull the trigger. LJ is the type of guy who might hold out if he doesn't get a long term contract and he'll certainly hold out if franchised. This is a weak running back draft and they'll get maximum value now, as opposed to later, when whichever team gets him needs to pay the Chiefs, and LJ.

All very valid, but we're talking King Carl--I'd be absolutely shocked if he pulled off something this big.

Haha I'm just happy Brady Quinn is sliding. I hope he continues to drop.

So far: 1. Oakland Ja'Marcus Russell Not too surprising... 2. Detroit Calvin Johnson Detroit takes ANOTHER first round receiver? When they had two receivers with 1000 yards last year? LOL 3. Cleveland Joe Thomas Good pick, best lineman in Cleveland since Anthony Munoz. 4. Tampa Bay Gaines Adams The next Simeon Rice? 5. Arizona Levi Brown Too early, I think. They should have traded down, you'd think someone would have taken them up on it... 6. Washington LaRon Landry Good pick, that secondary is going to be tough... I wish the Pats had traded up for this pick, which would have made sense for both teams, oh well. 7. Minnesota Adrian Peterson Wow, Minnesota gets a nice gift when AD drops to them at 7... 8. Atlanta Jamaal Anderson Way too early IMO. He is good but not a top 10 pick in my opinion...

Good thing Landry likes to play in the box. With the Skins D-line, he is going to need to be there. I am Skins fan and I am ok with this pick, but I would have preferred to trade down for more picks. We need D-line help stat.

And for the 10th pick overall, the Houston Texans choose:

Brady Quinn's Girl Friend

A much better pick than Mario Williams.

Brady Quinn's sister aka A.J. Hawk's (ex?) girlfriend isn't too bad either.
