NFL draft

Wow, some really shitty efforts out there so far.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...rt1/index.html
WTF!

My initial thoughts:

1. Oakland Jamarcus Russell

No brainer...

2. Detroit Calvin Johnson (if not a trade)

This is probably a bad decision but I think it will happen.

3. Cleveland Brady Quinn (or Adrian Peterson)

4. Tampa Bay Adrian Peterson

5. Arizona Joe Thomas

Some people have him going #2 to Detroit. That would be the smart move, but I don't see it happening

6. Washington Gaines Adams

7. Minnesota LaRon Landry

8. Atlanta Amobi Okoye

9. Miami Levi Brown

10. Houston Patrick Willis

11. San Francisco Jamaal Anderson

12. Buffalo Leon Hall

13. Rams Ted Ginn

14. Panthers Greg Olsen

15. Pittsburgh Paul Posluzny

16. Green Bay Marshawn Lynch

17. Jacksonville Reggie Nelson

18. Cincinnati Jon Beason

19. Tennessee Robert Meachem

20. New York Chris Houston

21. Denver Adam Carriker

22. Dallas Michael Griffin (or Aaron Ross)

23. Kansas City Alan Branch

24. New England Aaron Ross

25. New York Lawrence Timmons

26. Philadelphia Jarvis Moss

27. New Orleans Justin Harrell

28. New England Anthony Gonzalez (or Dwayne Jarrett, potentially)

29. Baltimore Greg Staley

30. San Diego Dwayne Bowe

31. Chicago Bears Justin Blalock

32. Indianapolis Colts Brandon Meriweather, but Lamar Woodley could be considered as well.

Is it tomorrow?

I'll have to mute the sound if Mel Kiper's still around.

That would be to the NE Patriots, for Deion Branch. LOL. Gotta love two first round picks!!!

I'm seriously thinking about going to watch it live at Lambeau field.

Your picks seem reasonable. I'd be shocked if Alan Branch slips to KC at 23 but I've been shocked before. I know he's fallen a bit of late. I think Posluzny will stuggle to find a position on Sundays- not sure he's stout enough to play the middle and a little slow and stiff in the hips to play on the outside even in the 4-3 (no chance to play outside in the 3-4).

I agree, I think Connor was the best of the PSU linebackers, and I even think Lee may be better than Poz, who was very productive but I've never been very impressed with on film. That said, the NFL teams seem to love him. I see him as another Andy Katzenmoyer w/ less talent.

Wow, why is PFW so enamored with Brady Quinn? Has so mediocre a quarterback ever been hyped so much?

Updated Mock Draft: (with trades) 1. Oakland: Jamarcus Russell I think at the end, Al Davis can't pass on Russell, as much as he wants Johnson. 2. Detroit: Joe Thomas If they can't trade down, and it appears they won't be able to, the smart choice here would be Thomas, over Gaines Adams, but who knows if they'll actually do this. 3. Cleveland Browns: Brady Quinn Again, I'm not really fond of this, but the "franchise quarterback" goes to the Browns. 4. Tampa Bay: Calvin Johnson Jon Gruden gets his man. 5. Arizona: Adrian Peterson Not a bad landing spot for AD with James wearing down. 6. Washington: Gaines Adams 7. New England (from Minnesota, for 24, 28): LaRon Landry Minnesota need an upgrade at talent and this trade makes sense. 8. Atlanta: Amobi Okoye 9. Miami Levi Brown 10. Houston: Patrick Willis 11. SF: Jamaal Anderson 12. Buffalo: Leon Hall 13. St Louis Ted Ginn 4. Panthers Greg Olsen 15. Pittsburgh Paul Posluzny 16. Kansas City (from GB) Marshawn Lynch 17. Jacksonville Reggie Nelson 18. Cincinnati Jon Beason 19. Tennessee Robert Meachem 20. New York Chris Houston 21. Denver Adam Carriker 22. Dallas Michael Griffin (or Aaron Ross) 23. Kansas City Alan Branch 24. Minnesota (from New England) Aaron Ross 25. New York Lawrence Timmons 26. Philadelphia Jarvis Moss 27. New Orleans Justin Harrell 28. Minnesota (from New England) Dwayne Jarrett 29. Baltimore Greg Staley 30. San Diego Dwayne Bowe 31. Chicago Bears Justin Blalock 32. Indianapolis Colts Brandon Meriweather, but Lamar Woodley could be considered as well.

As a KC fan, drafting Lynch makes no sense (unless they're planning on doing some mega-deal with LJ).

Rating Mel Kiper Footballoutsiders is the only football site I've found that's worth a damn. Tom

Yeah, that assumes Johnson is traded to GB for the 16th pick.

I'm not sure what GB would offer that would entice this trade.
