2013 FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament

So today kicks off the first official round. Some good info here: http://www.chessvibes.com/reports/fide-candidates-tournament-officially-opened-by-ilyumzhinov

The winner gets the right to play Vishy Anand for the world title later this year.

I'm predicting a Carlsen win but Aronian has had his number in the past.

By the way, Carlsen is now the highest rated chess player in the history of the game. Statistically that doesn't say a lot since ELO ratings are based on your opponents but even still, this guy has potential to put an even bigger gap between himself and everyone else, similar to what Fischer did in his prime.

There used to be a time where I was rated in the top 100 in the nation for my age.

Now my rating is probably just considered average ffffuuuu.gif

Well Magnus Carlsen managed to lose twice in the last three rounds, both times with the white pieces, and still win the tourney. Amazing.

Prior to this, Carlsen hadn't lost w/ white since Sep of last year.
