Restaurant recommendation in NYC for proposing

So it's about time I propose after dating for 3 years (of which 2.5 is long distance), I want to pick a place with nice ambience and great food (so if a place has a great food, but feels like a huge party or too businessy then it's probably out). Looking more for traditional French than any new type, unless it's actually executed exceptionally well (got burned too many times with these new fusion/new french kind stuff).

Here are the list, more suggestion are welcomed as well
1. la grenouille
2. bouley
3. mas farmhouse
4. la sirene
5. daniel
6. le bernardin
7. eleven madison park
8. jean georges
9. ai fiori

it's not in any order, and I am not necessarily proposing in the restaurant, just want a more romantic ambience to kick start the night

p.s. Per se is out, since she went there before and she thought it was good but not amazing

EMP's food and environment strikes me as suspect with all of the changes, but there's not a better dining room in Manhattan. After that, and assuming the weather is nice, a stroll in Madison Square Park is lovely.

Daniel is great too, and their dining room is also very nice.

I love the food at Le Bernardin, but walking out drunk happy and stumbling upon either Times Square or the deserted night time Midtown East both seem meh.

How often do these restaurants have proposals? It seems a place like Bouley would have at least one a week, don't you think? Do they catalog these into a scrapbook or give out little mementos or anything?

EMP is a good idea, except I used to slave in that building (well you can guess which firm it is if you worked in financial industry) too long to consider anywhere near there being particular romantic..., will still give it a look though.

It has been a long time since I was there, they have changed the look and chef since then. This review worries me a bit.

CS has the best location of any bank. C down in Tribeca may be the distant second.

That is true, I like the lobby especially.

What about getting car/limo service to take you to Stone Barns and Kykuit? The Rockefeller estate is gorgeous and I can't think of a more romantic spot in the NYC area.

Just ate at Picholine. Would be fantastic for a proposal. Very intimate and quiet setting. I'm sure they could set you up with a corner table. Some of the other places you mention have equally great food, but are much bigger, less personal places.
