Socks Pet Peeves

What are your pet peeves about socks? For example, one-size-fits-all that doesn't or visible branding. Let's leave out complaints about socks that are mostly synthetic - buyers should know better.

It might make inventory more expansive, but offering socks in multiple sizes, each with a limited range, is usually a better idea than one-size-fits-all.

When I see socks labeled as one-size-fits-all or simply men's, I know they won't fit me. When you have small feet, which I do, finding any sock marketed to men that doesn't result in the heel lining up with the top of your ankle is incredibly time-consuming.

One-size-fits-all is really just saying that the sock will fit the largest size listed, but they want you to buy it even if it doesn't fit. Sometimes, they seem like they might fit, but then you realize that they will not once you pull them on tightly, and if they did, they certainly would be a poor fit for the rest of the range.

Disclaimer: I wear a size 7D (US).

Agreed strongly. Also, poor-fitting socks can cause skin problems, and perhaps when stores refuse to carry any large or small sizes, visitors get mad enough not to buy other items there.

After that first (good) reply, nothing. Hello, people?

I hate it when I go into Weinberg's Discount and they only have the socks with noticeable defects. "One size fits all" is fine, but ffs, I don't want socks with more than one sealed hole spot on them.

Socks are easy. Stack 'em deep, and sell 'em cheap.

Not a problem for the MC threak but who else gets vexed when people wear different brands of socks to shoes?

I.E. Nike shoes (with large logo) and Vans socks (Large logo)

It should be outlawed.

No. I'm just happy that they're wearing socks.
