Buying a new pair of shoes for spring/summer 2013

Sorry if there is already a thread for this (I'm new) but I wanted to get some thoughts on a pair of high quality boots/shoes I'm thinking about acquiring.  I've had my eye on the Alden Indy's in Chromexcel or a pair of Allen Edmonds Strand in Walnut Calf.  They're mainly going to be used for work and going out.  The only thing I'm worried about is if I get a pair of boots, I won't wear them that much in summer.  Do you wear your Alden Indy's in the summer or do they usually sit in the closet till the weather gets more suitable to wear them again.  Do you think I'd be better off getting the Allen Edmonds or should I just say screw it and get the Indys?  Anyways, thanks for looking and the help!!!

Also, my work is pretty casual, I usually wear a button down with nice jeans or dress pants/slacks.

I decided to get a pair of indys,  I know spring/summer is coming up but I feel like this was the right call.
