I've always gone with button down, I am thinking about semi-spread. getting some casual shirts made this week (in light blue stripes).

what are your thoughts?

Even threads started by senior members no longer get much attention nowadays....

To determine which collar type would be best.... Where would you be wearing the shirts? Any recent pictures of your face and upper body?

I just had a slew of casual shirts made. Anything I intenend to wear without a tie gets the buttondown treatment from me.

If I'm not wearing a tie with it, I go for button down.  Just looks neater and more intentional in my opinion.

I prefer sharp cutaway (the Italian sprezz style) for causal shirting, at least you can wear a knit tie with it. I never really like button down.

+1. No tie, then button down. Especially in the US it's a classic look, and I generally think it looks cleaner and more put together.

While I prefer the button down option as it's clean and classic, you might want to consider getting a few shirts in each style as it's always good to have different options available and to change up your look a little on different occasions.
