Men’s Wearhouse Names New CFO

Men’s Wearhouse has named Jon Kimmins as the company’s new CFO, replacing Neill Davis, who left for a position with Francesca’s Holdings. Because Men’s Wearhouse sucks, and is probably the nexus of evil for all things fashion related, I hope his job goes poorly and the company folds.

Manton’s Rule

Manton posits a rule on the progression of StyleForum threads. Is he right? Will his rule thread follow its own predicted destiny?

Morning Suits and Strollers

This is a fascinating (albeit brief) thread that shows some beautiful examples of bespoke morning suits and strollers – I’m not really sure what the difference between the two are, but they’re both in this thread!

I'm probably going to see George Zimmer on Wednesday. I'll let him know that MW sucks.

Tell him that MW the company rules. MW suits, on the other hand, blow. Also, the stores are depressing.

I don't disagree that the stores are depressing and the suits suck.

Well, there are those for whom all that is required of a company is that it turn a tidy profit and/or make a name for oneself. Personally I'm not one of them ... but I'll allow L.A. Guy to speak for himself.

This does not change the fact that I'm neither a fan of the spaces or the clothing.

There a lot of companies that have great business models and are run incredibly well for whom I am not anywhere near their target demographic. In fact, appealing to my high falutin' tastes could possibly bankrupt them. Doesn't mean that I can't learn from them and/or admire them. Excepting some poor acquisitions in 2007, they do what they do, and pretty well. The branding is strong, and they are really good at managing inventory, from what I understand (which is very little.)

Like RSS, I dislike the clothes and the stores.

L.A. Guy you are right. Not everyone can or wants to wear Savile Row or even much of the clothing in between what the Row and MW sells. Someone has to market to those who require tailored clothing at an affordable price. George does that well. But when George asks if I got my Richard Anderson at MW, I do roll my eyes.
