When does the compnay dress code start?

talking to friends who work in different companies in London the dress code seems to start at different places. For example, one bank in the City wont let employees even wear trainers into the lobby while another consultancy firm allow you to change shoes at your desk.

This isnt really a concern for me but I know a few people who wear trainers to work and change to smarter shoes at their desks.

I'm curious as to what are you employee rules are?

I'd be very surprised if any bank allowed employees to wear sneakers in a lobby, or other public & client areas. If they're not on duty, that might be a bit different of course. But then they probably won't be within customer view, unless they're just come in to make a deposit or something as a regular customer.

Mate of mine is employed by a bank as a business development manager. Dress code is employees must wear their bank issued branded suit and shirt at all times, smart dress shoes are required as well, definitely no sneakers. Tie is optional and is seldom worn. They can change out of corporate bank clothing when not on duty, and they always enter and leave via the staff entrance, not the customer one.

I would say that anywhere you have the potential to come into contact with clients, on premise.

I feel like if your dress shoes are so uncomfortable that you need to wear trainers on the way to work, then you need to re-think your dress shoes.

I guess some people cycle to work so wear suitable clothing for that.
