Thanks. I remember you saying you had a routine that took like 30 minutes and I'm pretty damn lazy in the morning. When I tried having longer hair it would suck because the way I slept the sides and back would be flat and the top poofy so my head looked like a frickin egg. So I just shaved the sides and back.

Mark, how long is your hair in the last picture? It looks good.

I don't buy this whole "never shampoo" shit, it's not bad for your hair. Shampooing every day is ill-advised for a lot of people, but I do it because my hair gets quite oily and my scalp itchy. It depends on the person.

Nahneun is right that if you have moderately long hair and want a non-flat style, blowdrying is basically a requirement.

The reason you scalp gets oily and itchy is because you shampoo everyday.

i liked it before but it definitely got too long and i like it shorter as it is now better anyway...shame it won't last. also am starting to shampoo regularly again (every ~3 days) and using product. not sure why i thought it looked better before. it didn't. just looked greasier.

and i don't blow dry my hair but should probably start. when i get my hair cut, my stylist does after shampooing and it definitely seems less flat than otherwise.

Anecdotal and more likely perception than reality.

I wash my hair because my scalp gets itchy and my hair gets gross if I don't. Sebum production and scalp sensitivity vary from person to person.

I stopped washing my hair around last may/june.  It was really greasy for 3-4 weeks.  After that, it's been perfect - little bit of oil to give it weight / prevent it from frizzing up, but dry to the touch. I rinse it thoroughly with hot water just about daily, but don't use shampoo.  I've asked people (trusted ones) if it smells ok, and been told it smells great.  IDK, it's probably not for everyone, but i was having issues with an itchy scalp and this really helped a ton.

Seriously, it was like visibly shiny like I had gel in my hair for a couple weeks, my head is producing less oils now.

it works well for my thick dark hair, gives me no dandruff, I don't get an itchy scalp and its inexpensive but I don't know what your hair type so it may not work for you. It's also less terrible than not washing your hair for 6 months and being that guy who smells worse than my ass hole after releasing a fat steaming turd. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

All I use is H&S though I only use it once 1 month, if any or when I get my next haircut, which is usually within a month lmao.

Products: Layrite is pretty cool...works better for me when I have short hair but I know a lot of dudes like to use it for pomps. I really like the B&B Sumotech though, more so than Layrite in terms of the feel in hand and how it rubs into the hair. However, between the two Layrite washes much better since it is water-soluble. I say if you want a bit more texture that is easy going on your hands and hair, Sumotech is a nice one. For hold, definitely Layrite. (Disclaimer: I have very fine, course hair. Best when it is about 3" top and #2 on the side.)
