More often than not. I find I have the most interesting conversations with strangers or bartenders when I do.

This, definitely. This is the draw. You meet great people, and more importantly, you hear great stories. Walking into a bar by yourself in a strange town or going out to dinner by yourself in a strange town (for example, to a place recommended by the bartender) are excellent things to do. I have gathered so many wonderful anecdotes and tall tales just from striking up conversation with strangers. To be perfectly honest, it's one of the things that keeps me going. People are fascinating.

Can somebody provide me with a good bloody mary recipe? I always end up either with something bland and watery or something that lights my nosehairs on fire.

(I like using Demitri's Bloody Mary mix with some decent tomato juice for my bloody mary)

Anyone have any good recs for a cognac to mix? I used Courvoisier Exclusif for a while but my local liquor stores stopped carrying it. Either that or they're hiding it from me.

I don't bother using cognac to mix in most cocktails, especially if there is fruit juice (with one exception, but that's for sentimental reasons). I just use Christian Bros VSOP. Trust me, it will work really well.

Armagnac can be quite interesting to mix with. Sort of like a rhum agricole.

Currently sipping a watered down Dewar's while I contemplate what to wear to a wedding in Palm Springs this weekend. Dress code is creative/whatever/casuformal.

Thinking of DTO'ing this Umit look. Hopefully undapper and not a gentleman. Also... will sub Mojito or Negroni for scotch since it will be in the 90s or someting.

Holy shit I'll be there this weekend too haha, so far showing 80s so I'm disappoint since I'm trying to get a lot of pool time in. Would be nice for me if it were in the 90s.

Do it. But swap the loafers for flyknits, obviously.

Keeping this thread going. Random mix from Montreal, San Diego, and my apt.

My bar stock has been dwindling. Really need to stock up on some bourbon, gin and more vermouth.

More pics to bring some life back into this thread:

Picture of my bar at the house Miss the Fish recently purchased. Not pictured are the bottles of wine in the cabinet below, and the champagne.

New Belgium just came to Ohio finally... Been drinking lots of Fat Tire.

Aforementioned champagne.

And in honor of booking a trip for my buddies and I to Las Vegas in June, a picture of one of the incredible Mojitos at Casa Fuente from my last trip.

i found out last week from Drew's instagram about the negroni fizz:

"just build a standard negroni into a highball and top off with soda or sparkling to make it loooong and gentle"

Sounds kinda similar to a spritz, a pretty popular summer drink in Italy. Its a little simpler though, just aperol/campari and prosecco. Really tasty when it's too hot out to do anything but sit under an umbrella with a drink and read smile.gif
