Ebay Problem: Tie delivered folded in envelope

I have a problem with an eBay purchase. The tie was nice and seemed to be as described, but the seller folded it (not rolled) and put it in a priority envelope. When I took it out, it had folds pressed at intervals, and it was very visible. I hung it up on a coat hanger to see if they disappear after hanging, but what should I tell the seller?

In addition to hanging, you might try gently steaming it.

most ties I receive are shipped folded. Creases will come out if you roll the tie and leave it there for a couple days (or you can steam it of course)

Every tie I've ever received by mail has been folded.

+1... except the ties I've purchased from Lance @ VCH, who lovingly rolled them and wrapped them in tissue paper.

Do you feel ignored by the AE Kennet thread?

No, ties usually come folded, but this one came folded and then pressed or something, and the creases are pretty visible. The seller replied advising me to press the tie...

Shell cordovan ties will crease differently than calf leather ties.

What if anything you say to the seller is up to you. Given that it was shipped in standard fashion and there's no way of knowing whether any "pressing down" occurred at the seller's end, en route, in your dorm's mail room, or whatever, I probably would not make a big deal of it. If anything - and it's iffy whether I'd even bother with this - I might send a brief email outside of the ebay feedback system just in case they decide they might want to try a different packing method in the future.

What irks me is when a seller crams a shirt or jacket in too small of a package and it arrives looking like I had slept in it for a year. A folded tie is almost a luxury compared to that. :)

On a positive note, a suit I bought last week arrived in a big box with nary a wrinkle in it.

I'd say that over half the ties I own are either from ebay or mail order, and I have yet to receive a tie that was rolled instead of folded.

This is better than when assembly required.

The problem isn't that it was folded - it was that they used an envelope so that the folds got pressed into the tie. That isn't acceptable.

I had the same problem recently. I tried hanging it in the bathroom while I showered and then rolling it tightly to get rid of the wrinkles. Nothing worked, and I eventually had to have the cleaners steam it. I don't know if this is worthy of negative feedback or anything like that, but you might at least tell the seller that his buyers will be happier if he packs his ties differently.
