Quite a few Jehovah's Witnesses I have encountered have been very well turned out. They give compliments on my appearance freely and receive them graciously from me.

 In regards to the original question: I think that nearly all the guys posting in the WAYWN threads are looking for compliments or they wouldn't post there. Some are looking for fit opinions but if the fits are bad they get their egos crushed.
 
 FWIW- I got a compliment this morning from a coworker...

I don't post there because I know my shoulders are not perfect and I tend to don non-SF approved items such as the occasional pork-pie, bowler, necklace, plus fours with knee socks, etc... not all at once, then I am a circus freak, but used sparingly with great effect.

And I wondered about the hate for the driving/flat cap. Pretty much a essential staple in my neighborhood.

(only joking, I have a couple of flat caps, but I've never been anywhere where they've be considered a staple these days).
