I just bought 2 pairs of jack purcells.. black and white

anyway, the size seems to be a fit but spent all night last night and today in them and got a lot of rubbing and irritation on my small toes, blisters on both of them. They fit snug and comfortable but started irritating after about 2-3 hours.

Will they break in or should i go up a 1/2 size?

The denim used in Corpus jeans is not that tightly woven. It will stretch readily.

Go up a 1/2 size man. Or, it could be that Jack Purcells are not good shoes for you.

Relace them a bit looser and keep wearing them around, they will stretch.

To answer my own question, with the help of Sam at Context, they might only stretch by half a size or so.

So what's up with Clarks? Are they good shoes?

It's a pretty formal shoe. In suede, I could see it with denim, but having a captoe and being a conservative shape, I don't think it would work in leather. There is probably a better option if you're buying new.

That said, if they were beat up and repolished, etc., like we discussed in the wingtips-with-jeans thread, I could see them working OK.

hmmm, i would agree with j say no, if we're talking black moras, nice condition. ok if brown suede, although it should be nice denim. iffy in the brown, definitely want it to look worn. maybe with really nice denim if in brown?

i probably wouldn't be doing it, though. i have other shoes i like to wear with denim.

I'm not the best one to ask; you may have better luck over at Men's Clothing. I would say yes, though. I think that tassels and perf tips* are pushing it with jeans, but imo a simple cap toe can work depending on the outfit. As for Clarks, the simple answer is yes; they're not necessarily, say, Frye quality, but they're classics and decent value for the price. If you like the look, get some. *Although that said, beat-in vintage wingtips can work too...

What jeans fit similarly to Ande Whall V3 Cougars? I love mine, but they're out of production. Levi's fit me horribly, so the much-ballyhooed repro's are a no-go...
