Damn. It's not that hard people. Get some pieces. Try it on with other stuff in your wardrobe. If you don't have something, conceptualize it and make it happen. I think it's fun getting various pieces of all styles/aesthetics and trying to make it work. Makes dressing interesting.

Thanks lel, I would say I don't usually need to wear dress shoes (I would rather not walk through all the snow and slush to get to class and have them get messed up. The 1000$ price range was just so that it didn't go insane on basics I have not actualy set aside a number which I will spend on clothes. For basics, would you guys recommend american apparel, or alternative apparel?
I would like a slim straight look, but I want to avoid button fly jeans as they are not my thing. I figured the redwing GT's would fit my style. Do the GT's fair well in the winter or are they for more late winter/early fall?

American apparel is thicker and more ubiquitous, but I prefer Alt Apparel's cuts actually. Shorter in the length and sleeves.

I've been eyeing a suit at STP (http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/0...-For-Men.html). The pants are described as flat front with a pleated curtain waistband which seems to be a contradiction. How can pants be both flat front and pleated?

Anyone know where I can get a Shades of Greige M65 jacket in black, size S or M? Context is sold out, Revolve doesn't have it in black. Also, I'm looking for the SoG Waxed Belted 4 Pocket Officer's Jacket, also black, S or M. Sold out at Context, no sizes left at Revolve. Seems like these are popular and/or slightly older items. There are things called overshoes I think? Not 100% but they're basically rubber slip ons that you put over your dress shoes to protect them from the rain and snow. Worth looking into.

Basics = anything. AA (both) are good but then again if GAP or Old Navy fits you then go with that.

As for GTs I don't know, I don't have a pair. I am basically regurgitating simple advice from the entirety of the SF forum.

does anyone know much about the edwin ed-77 slim jean. i really like the shape of the leg and the washes but the ass is weird, totally anti-fit. do i just need to size down a lot as with apcs? if so, how is the stretch? thanks..

It's possible because it doesn't say "pleated front", but "pleated curtain waistband". I think this is a detail you see in higher-end, better tailored dress pants, but I could be wrong. You'll likely get a better answer in the Men's Clothing subforum.
