So now I am confused as to whether I should not soak my new F380s until the 8 month period (like APC recommends), or soak regularly like you guys do. What is the general consensus or normal timing for soaks? Will it reduce the fades and contrasts if I do it too often? Thanks
It won't hurt anything really with Flathead. APC is pretty mediocre denim, where as flathead will be much more colorfast. APC's are, afaik, dyed differently, dyed less, and with an inferior indigo. All these things make them fade in the washing machine/soaking a lot faster. With flathead you really shouldn't have to worry about it. Some people in Japan wash their jeans 15x a year, and they still get fantastic fading. I don't have the photo, but I believe it was the owner of Flathead's (maybe Ironheart) jeans which were on display and had been washed like 17 times or something, and looked absolutely amazing as far as fades. While I'm not saying you should be that drastic, a wash/soak before 6 or 8 months isn't going to hurt anything on quality dyed denim.
