for owners of straight sven, pbj xx-003, apc rescue, etc.:

I'm looking to add another straight leg to my raw denim collection that doesn't have quite as narrow a cut and leg opening as my other jeans. I'd prefer it to be slightly relaxed in the thighs and have a rise no greater than 10''. drizzt I know you have svens and rescues so maybe you could weigh-in on this? What are some similarities and differences here and what would you all recommend? I have nudies and apcs in other cuts and have generally liked the nutie cuts more but the apc denim better. Any other good alternatives to what I
've mentioned so far? Pros, cons? Thanks.

Rescues have a higher rise than 10" but are definitely relaxed in the thighs and legs. Svens are more fitted in the top block than rescues and about the same below the knee, and have a significantly lower rise than the Rescues. You may want to look at the APC Hipster if you want a straight leg APC that is low rise.

It's probably 10.5-11" in 29 since the New Standard is 10.5 and I believe the rescue has a slightly higher rise. I would imagine the Svens in size 30 would be about 9.5-10" rise. You can ask Denim Bar for measurements on the hipster in 29.

Sorry guys, I'm loading you with tons of really basic fashion questions.

Anyways, when is it appropriate to swtich from the more muted colors of spring to the bright colors of summer? I've got two Lacoste polos I'm dying to wear; one is a light orange and the other is a sky blue. They're BRIGHT though. So is wearing bright colors more about when summer officially begins, or just when its over 70 degrees?

I just got some apc new standards and am somewhat surprised at the width of the leg. I've had a pair of 31/34 slim jims for the last year and a half and the fully stretched out knee is the same as the brand new size 29 apc's, which is basically as big as i'd want it to be. My question is, i've seen pictures of some of you guys wearing the new standards and they don't appear to be baggy in the leg, so should I not expect them to stretch very much in the leg? Should i soak them in hopes of shrinking them a little? The waist is super tight, so i'm sure they're the right size. What can you new standard owners tell me?

TBH your questions sound to me like they belong in their own thread, because they are pretty open-ended and this thread (I thought) was more for factual, one-person-can-answer-it type questions rather than opinions.

That said, this is a pretty simple one - the traditional answer is Memorial Day, but if the weather permits in spring, it's acceptable. I think most people are happy to see some bright colors come out as soon as the weather turns up a bit, and no one is going to judge you on it anyway.

My size 31 APCNS knees are about 8.5" across after a couple years' wear and maybe 6-7 washes. They are a bit baggy in the front, though. I don't think they stretched much except in the front. If knee sag bothers you, you can iron them from the inside and snap it back for a while.

Thanks for the answer. I thought of creating my own thread, but I guess I didn't want to clog up any more board space with such basic stuff. If only the internet was a better place to find info about men's fashion...

I bought a "ringspun" cotton tee from J Crew on sale, not knowing anything about ringspun. It feels softer than anyother tee I own. Anyone know what ringspun is, and what makes it so spcial?

Just a quick question: What is the safest (or easiest) way to shrink STF denim?

Soak it in cold water for 4 hours then hang dry it.
