I'm trying to decide whether to hem these 5EP LDBs some more. I was conservative the first time because I didn't want take too much off and end up with unwearable jeans, but now I think they might be too long and they stack a bit too much for a slight bootleg, and it's worse with chunkier shoes than those shown. Should I hem them more? Another inch, maybe?

What do you call those double-zip jackets you see Asian men often wear? Like, they have one zipper, but you can zip them up from both the top and the bottom at once. Example: http://diabro.net/product_info.php/p...d810fdfbb8dfd9 Is there anywhere I could find more of those?

Not a streetwear question, but I figure it's better than asking in the other section and yea.... Whats with the huge mark-downs on suits? I see a lot of sellers selling suits that retail for $3k + for ~$500-$1K Reason I ask is because I'm in the market for my second suit. I need one for a business work term. Which leads to my second question.... How much, on average, would it cost to get a suit tailored. Is there a mini guide for this? Or am I at the mercy of my tailor? Zach

They get them through discounters, wholesalers, etc. or it's from their own wardrobe and they're just selling them off. The cost of getting a suit altered will vary depending on what work you need done. Simple alterations like changing the hem on trousers or the length of suit sleeves will usually be between $10-20. Tapering the body/waist suppression is usually $30-60. Trouser waist/seat alterations between $15-30. The most expensive alteration I've ever had done was to re-position sleeves on a jacket so that they'd rest at a different angle, and was about $100 (all shoulder related work will be expensive fyi).

a lot of tailors in new york won't even do arm hole/shoulder related alterations, unless you're a regular and beg them to.

The cost is astronomical in the end, and they're probably scared of scaring off newer customers if they mess up difficult and expensive alterations.

I pay $60-95 for waist suppression though; your experiences may differ.

Ok, thank you. I don't plan on doing anything major if I do get one. Maybe slim it down a little. So I guess I should just buy as close as I can to a dead on fit, and budget ~$75 for some odds and ends....

SOMET 003 Straight Fit question:

Inspired by LA Guy's list, I would like to order a pair of these. If I take a size 29 in APC NS, what size would I take in the Somet? I'm thinking 30...

It's not the stack but the way they drape to the outside that throws off the visual. Do you have any tall boots to try them with? It might preserve the line from the knee. Otherwise, if you're planning on going with regular shoes and low boots, I'd go with another inch or inch and a half.

No tall boots at this time, no, and I wouldn't wear anything taller than a Chelsea anyway. I don't think the drape to the side is as severe when I moving around, but sometimes when I stand still it sits that way. Maybe I'll just do the inch and see. I'm deathly afraid of hemming too much and ending up with some very expensive and very high quality unwearable jeans.

For some reason, the first thing that came to mind at that price at full retail was Banana Republic. I've heard good things about their shoes in the past. Check here and here.

Ok, so I've tried the Slater chelsea in brown and black...originally looking for a decent black chelsea that I could dress up a bit, but these are a greasy black. I'm not sold on the quality of the boot though.

Any other suggestions from anyone? Are the Blundstone's that bad?
