Bob, I bought the same sweater. The XS I bought was slim in the torso but you could fit a 747 through the armholes.

When does Yoox put their Fall-Winter stuff on sale? I need to mark the date on my calendar.

They do it gradually starting with 15% or 20% I believe. It could be any week now as the new S/S stuff should appear in late November.

I've been thrifting for a sports coat lately.

I can't seem to have any decent luck finding a proper fitting one. I have WIDE shoulders, and a smaller stomach.

A 48 will look fine on me until I start moving my arms. Crossing my arms in front will stress the seams around the armhole. As for the bottom half it's like wearing a tarp, there's so much room.

A 46 is perfect around the waist, but the shoulders make me look like a German sausage.

What should I do about sports coats? Forget about 'em?

APC NC? Maybe the 5EPxSF available still will be small enough for that...

Bring one that fits in the shoulders to a tailor to take in the waist.

I need some tips on sizing on Levi 501 shrink-to-fits (yes I am poor). I usually buy Levi's (pre-shrunk crap) in a 34 waist, which is SOMEWHAT loose, enough where I wear a belt just to be sure. I guess my perfect waist would be a 33 which is always obscure and hard to find. So I was thinking for the 501 STF I would buy a 32 waist, have them shrink to a 31 on the initial cold wash, and then have them stretch up to a 33ish once I wear them a bit. Is this feasible? Should I find a 33 instead? I'd like to finally have a pair of pants that don't require a belt.

Also, I'm worried about the length. 32 is my exact length that will make for nearly zero break at the shoe. Should I stick with a 34 length on the shrink-to-fits? The label says they shrink 3 inches in the length, but is it really that much?

i have about the same waist size as you, and i bought my stf's at 33x34...haven't washed them yet, but i've hot and cold soaked them a few times because they are baggier than i want and not tight, at all...i'd get at largest a 32" waist, if i had to do it again...expect them to shrink down to about tag size in the waist...

as for the inseam, i just measured mine...they are at 31"...so, you'll need to get a longer inseam or roll the dice and hope that you could stretch them out while damp

How do you guys feel about Brooks Brothers? I went to check out a developing part of my town and what do you know they have a spankin new Brooks Bros there. They had some really nice looking sweaters, some toggle coats etcetera. Is there stuff work the extra loot? It kind of has a Nordstroms feel to it, but nicer.

nice upper middle quality stuff.

what's good: shoes, golden fleece suits/jackets, regular ocbd shirts.

what i like but a lot of people hate: non-iron shirts. i like em. i don't care what everybody else thinks. you can wash them cold, hang dry em (or machine dry them in a very lightly packed dryer), and wear them without really needing to iron them - can't always do that for regular shirts.

a lot their stuff ends up on clearance or on ebay, and at rather good prices, although shoes and suits are harder to come by.

Got a Blundstone question.

I have been looking for a decent pair of chelsea boots in around the $100 to $150 range. I have finally settled on Blundstone, but am not sure what model to get.

What do folks think of the 500 series? http://aussiedirect.stores.yahoo.net/blun500ser.html

in comparison to the 059 series?
http://aussiedirect.stores.yahoo.net/bl05drbo.html

The 500 looks like it has a lot rounder toe, and is more chunky looking. These will be used to cut down the wear time of my Dr Martins (so they already have a round toe and are a bit chunky)...but is the chisel toe of the 059 too dressy for casual wear?

Thanks
