Sins of the past revisited

So, about seven years ago, I went to Cost Plus and I bought one of those bonded leather club chairs. I kept it in my TV room for a couple of years, until I could afford something more my taste. When I purchased a couple of Eames Aluminum Group Chairs to replace it, I was actually at something of a loss as to what to do with it.

I decided to be slovenly, and dragged it out of my building in the dead of night, leaving it on the curb. Only mildly apprehensive over possible complaints, I was mildly relieved to discover that it had disappeared the following morning.

Well, after a little over five years, the chair reappeared this morning - on the same curb where I had left it. It's definitely the same chair, as it had the same strip of adhesive Velcro that I had put on one of the armrests for mounting my remotes on. The only difference is that it now looked like it had been on somebody's roof for five years.

I froze in panic. Am I still responsible for it? This evening before dinner, I was joking with friends over cigars and scotch about it, in denial at the possible consequences. As I walked home from the following dinner, the apprehension came back.

Lo and behold, I have come home to discover that the chair is gone again.

I wonder who has it now? I certainly hope they keep it.

that chair will haunt you for the rest of your days. when you're a hundred years old and they put you in an assisted elderly community place you'll find it in your room the moment you check in.

I would have sat in it one last time just to feel the familiarity of it despite how it spent years away from you.

But, I don't know where it's been!

Well, at least this guy never saw my chair. People are obsessed with indiscretionary dumping in these parts.

Today it is gone again.

I forgot to mention that there is an upholstery shop on my block. I am beginning to suspect the upholsterer is insane.

What makes people buy leather chairs and couches anyway?

Many times I find myself sitting on them in the store and they just do not feel comfortable to relax in.

They make my ass sweat.

I'll just stand thanks!

They were big in the 90's. Was like a status symbol or sumsuch.

Leather is surprisingly resistant to fluids.

Why did they take the legs and not the rest of the chair?
