What type of tie would you wear with this shirt? - Page 2

My point was more that you can't say something is poor quality without actually trying it on or at least having a bit more to go on than how the shirt is marketed. As for that particular shirt, it is possible that it is not Egyptian cotton (I am too lazy to check). If you do go on their website and look for Egyptian cotton shirts, however, you'll find a number offered at 4 for $200 or 4 for 100GBP.

I think every person who likes CT will readily concede that they are not the best of the best, more a serviceable shirt that is a decent value when bought for $40-$50. I think use of the word "poor" with such certainty is a bit aggressive and overstates the case. You sound like you are trying to make a relative comparison between a $40-$50 workhorse shirt and some of the best shirts out there, and of course the $40-$50 shirt is going to look bad in that comparison. I think that CT is far better than Joseph A Bank or anything one could find at Men's Warehouse, for example, and would be an upgrade for a decent number of guys without breaking the bank for guys who don't want to / can't spend $100+ (or $200+) per shirt.

We'll have to agree to disagree on 80s vs. 100s, but there's a lot more to cotton than just the weight. I've seen some nice 80s and some lousy 120s.

Also have to disagree that a high end shirt is yours forever. The body generally lasts a good bit longer than the collar and cuffs, and good cotton well cared for will last awhile, but cotton is mortal like any other fabric.

I agree that there are some very good 80s and generally agree with the gist of what you're saying.

Last for ever: its amazing how a bespoke can stripped down and reassembled (seen it done to mine). It's very modular and if the fabric is still available any bit can be replaced.
