Question for you guys, we've been experimenting a bit with the presentation of our pictures the last couple of months. Which type of shot do you guys feel represents the shoes best?

Tha's it I am getting a mint green lining for my next MTO.

Personally I prefer the store background; that having been said there is very often an important difference between the pictures and the actual shoes and whereas the shop background portrays a warmer environment of course, I wonder if there might be a better background to portray the color more realistically unless of course the shoes are black ?

I mean I have never been disappointed but there is a huge difference between colors due to the type of computer screens of course but also due to the background I imagine?

I am sure that some members are into photography and can comment on that?

Yup, prefer store background.

The tan/mid brown colors of the display table compliment the warm colors of the blurred store background. It looks out of place with the neutral background IMO...

Aesthetically, I like the store background best. You are correct though, their pics do skew to a warmer overtone, and higher saturation. But, color accuracy is a whole other beast, and has many variables that are out of control of the person making the images.

The neutral background would be better for color accuracy, but only if they use something similar to the white box set-up (like Leffot). They would also need to use lighting that imitates natural light (like florescent bulbs), otherwise one needs to compensate for the tungsten yellowing in post-production. In the end, if the person's monitor (viewing the image) is not calibrated properly, it will still not be an accurate representation. Regardless of what Skoak does on their end.

That's why i am so adamant about seeing the leather or swatch in person, only way to really know. As far as shoe pics, i just ask for good clarity, contrast, and angle variety. Aesthetic flair is an extra bonus for me, which i appreciate...

Thanks Laufer, as I was going MTO route I figured why not go mint green...... you only live once... LOL.

Since you usually do multiple photos, I think a mix of neutral and store backgrounds would be helpful. And of course top-down view regardless of background.
