Skoaktiebolaget – Carmina, John Lobb, Enzo Bonafè, Carlos Santos, Saint Crispin’s, Gaziano & Girling, Rubinacci – Official Thread - Page 1030

While Skoaktiebolaget have been excellent and extremely helpful in all their dealings with me, it is regrettable that I have been kept waiting for almost half a year for an MTO through them with Enzo Bonafé. Bonafé employees have likely gone on holiday without completing an order that has been left outstanding and unfulfilled for half a year.

Members who are not prepared to contend with a lack of professionalism, a very high risk of not being able to obtain their shoes or dealing with a party that has no interest in fulfilling their obligations should perhaps not consider an MTO with Enzo Bonafé.

I hope I can get my deposit back.

I believe they sent out the last few pairs just before closing for summer break. As soon as we get them we will contact the owners.

I am sorry you feel let down. We contacted all participants to let everyone know that there would be a delay and the lead time would be longer than expected. I am also disappointed at the fact that we could not deliver everything before end of July but shoemaking is not always an exact manufacturing process. Did you very recently contact us with your with your concerns? I have been monitoring our sales email this past week when Gabriel has been on vacation but cannot recall an email on this topic.

Bonafè is a very professional and skilled manufacturer and I will stand by that, even though this delay is unfortunate.

I finally got a chance to take some photos. I was a little nervous on how these would turn out, but I'm very happy with the results! Now if Fall/Winter would just get here a little faster (plus, that would mean the Doak Nevis would be ready, too!).
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Congratulation, Very nice combo, Utah and suede looks elegant on 82 last.

I'm sorry to hear about your delay, but this has happened to me just recently. My recent experience is with Edward Green. Typically their MTOs take about 4 to 6 months, however with this restock I was taking part with has already taken about 10 months and its anticipated it will take at least until September which will make it 11 months but there are no guarantees at this point. You see my shoes have already failed their quality inspection twice. Now I have no idea why your shoes are not ready at this point, but I and others like you do know what it means not to get your shoes at the time you expect too. I mean I'm not very happy because my expectations were not originally met. But I am very aware what I am ordering however. What I am ordering is something fairly specific even though this is something they have made before it is very specific and at this time as far as I know its so specific it doesn't even exist at any of their retailers at this point. These shoes aren't something that you can buy at Walmart, heck these aren't even available at any of their retailers. This is more than likely the case with your shoes as well. Although these are RTW these aren't shoes that are already made like thousands of Nikes or Allen Edmonds which are already made and on the shelf. These are pretty specific shoes which have to be made according to what you want when you placed the order through Skoaktiebolaget and then to the factory. Because this is the case any delay that may occur your going to notice.

Although this is not what me or you think about or consider when ordering these are certainly the possibilities that can occur. Delays can happen, and when they do, then we will notice. Boy have I noticed, but boy it has not yet me decide to go back to buying Cole Hahn or Allen Edmonds however, or even just stocked Edward Green shoes. I like the many other possibilities of getting the other shoes I can get when ordering something via MTO. Besides by having a larger rotation now it does help until I get the current one I am waiting one. Am I happy it's taking almost a year, NO!!!!!!!! Will I be happier when I get them, YES!!!!!!!

I'm sorry to hear this is currently happening to you. Do I know what you feel like, No. But I am pretty much in the same boat, as many others have been as well.

Really surprised we haven't seen burgundy Utah Galways. I'm so curious how it looks like in the wild (not just from a swatch).

My Friend,

I feel your pain. "Hope deffered makes the heart sick..."

However, I would strongly encourage you to be patient with Skoak and Enzo B. regarding this process.

The chaps in Sweden are some of the finest shop owners I have ever known.

And, EB represents one of the best deals for handmade shoes in the world today.

Patience is a virtue....Good things come to those who wait...

Here is my EB MTO:

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure there was at least 1 person who did that mto, or the one I did a mock up of. Maybe they didnt get it or didn't follow through with the order

Unfortunate indeed and I do sympathize.  But your experience is very much atypical.

I do appreciate that senior members have come forward in an attempt to console me. However in the professional world, there are standards and there are deadlines. I regret that in choosing Enzo Bonafe to make up a pair of shoes for me, I had inadvertently chosen a maker who had no appreciation of running a serious business. The fact that other people have suffered the same fate only begs the question as to how this could have been allowed to continue for so long.

I understand that with an MTO, the customer obtains something relatively unique. However, I know for a fact that EB is not the only maker who can execute the design I have in mind. In the professional world, if you are not hungry for business, there is always someone else who is hungrier than you and has more pride in their work. Fortunately I have found a couple of makers who have impressed me a great deal, and I just hope that they do not read this thread and realise how much they could be getting away with in view of the surprisingly high tolerance for sloth that can exist.

Thank you, but I respectfully disagree. EB has taken my deposit and gone on holiday even though my order has been outstanding for half a year. While it is still open to me to go to another maker now whom I know could execute what I have in mind, I would have to forfeit my deposit, and would have had waited for more than half a year, when I could have just gone to another maker from the start, and have had been able to wear my shoes for the last four months.

I also realise now that I was utterly remiss in relying on the estimate of 3 months on Skoaktiebolaget’s website, and I should have done further due diligence to determine EB's capacity for dilatoriness. I consider this a lesson learnt, but I hope it will not be at the expense of my 50% deposit.

@CrimsonWave as I stated in my post previously, Bonafè sent out what I hope to be the very last pairs prior to them closing up for summer. Please PM me your name and I'll look into your order.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

I echo most of CrimsonWave's sentiments!

I plan on ordering another couple of MTO boots but will likely go another route.

I'm also surprised at the level of tolerance shown. While I understand that being able to order an MTO is a 'courtesy' of sorts, either you can make the shoe in a timely manner or you can't. If you can't, don't accept the order.

I just hope that at 6+ months both pairs fit!

PM sent, hopefully my last pair came in.
