I own premium shoes from a wide range of makers (not only from brands we carry, of course). It’s not a coincidence that my favorite shoes are the ones in the top level of the premium segment. I’d say that about 80% of my shoes are from Gaziano & Girling and Edward Green, and for a good reason. Tifosi and DpprDr points at a number of factors that I agree with and it’s no use repeating these. That said, I have to say that Carmina offers a product that is amazing value for money. In the $400-500 category they are the most obvious choice and best value product IMO. With the dollar being as strong as it is now, Bonafé also offer great value and amazing craftsmanship although they lack the superb finish (way better than Carmina though) found with Edward Green and Gaziano & Girling, but these are makers almost twice as expensive, this must always be taken into consideration when comparing premium brands.

Thank you
@Leaves @dddrees @DpprDr @Dieg0 @tifosi for your input. I thought about just waiting for the stock to arrive in March but since the width I need isn't normally stocked preorder is the only way to go. I have a week to decide. Man that is one beautiful shoe.

^ I thought those weren't available until tomorrow. Already sold out in my size. :(

We always e-mail people on the waiting list before we post them here and in other channels. If you're on the waiting list and did not get an email it's because your size did not arrive. We did not get a full range of sizes for this style, expecting more stock later.

Quote: 9.5UK. If you got those and they don't work, let me know. But maybe SkoAB didn't get that size ...

I was supposed to be on the email list and didn't get anything, so perhaps 9.5UK didn't show up. Thanks!

I apologize for the quick and dirty pic, but I just wanted to share my Brandy Willow calf Edward Green Dover. I just got to work and these were waiting for me so I will try to get some better pics later on in the day. This leather is incredible. As always I received outstanding service from @Skoaktiebolaget and @Leaves . Thanks again!
Those look great. On my monitor the color appears fairly close to Almond CC, which is a nice color in its own right.

Hi Everyone,

Pardon my ignorance but I have a question regarding quality and craftsmanship between brands. What are some of the key features of a $1000 shoe like G&G versus a $400-$500 shoe like Carmina? In no way am I questioning whether or not a $1000 shoe isn't worth twice the quality/value of a $500 one. I ask because I'm strong considering participating in Skoat's preorder of the St. James II Chestnut since that is one of my dream shoes. Since delivery isn't until the end of March I have a little over 3 months to secretly extort funds under the radar of my wife who already feels spending $500 on dress shoes is borderline excessive LoL

Thanks in advance.

You should go for it. You won't regret it.

As for extorting funds under the radar of your wife, you are on your own. :D

I've been having some issues with my iPhone's focus. Wish these were clearer. No qualifications about the boots. They're :slayer:.

@Leaves
Any plans to start stocking a version of the u-wing boot? It's an absolute panty-dropper.

I know you guys developed the shoe version of that and I have seen more than a few MTOs on it as well. Gentlemen's Footwear recently did a GMTO with 12+ participants (which I sadly missed out on) so there seems to be clear demand for it. I am going to get that boot eventually whether I have to do a MTO, GMTO, or if you will eventually stock it I may just try to practice patience and holdout for that. Most likely I will fail at waiting...but I will try!

Thanks!

Yes...that was my 'wet dream' of a boot but I hadn't been on SF for a few months (recently moved from midwest to the westcoast and had our first child....so a little distracted) and missed the GMTO.
