Skoaktiebolaget - Carmina, EG, GG, Bonafe - Official Affiliate Thread - Page 50

Not up to cause confusion here, but I was in and tried the half brogue today.
I wear size 8 in Rain and in Oscar. Size 8 in the Bonafe shoe was too large. Sized down to 7.5 but still I had the lacing fully closed. Size 7 were too small but still I had only about 0.5 cm gap in the lacing. Obviously the instep is very generous. Unfortunately not possible for me.

All new modells are beutiful and especially the color and finish of the wholecuts is fantastic!

^^^ Thanks for that info. I am struggling to decide between UK 8.5 and UK 9 in Bonafe. I have a pair of Carmina Rain 8.5 wholecuts that fit perfectly, and another pair of Carmina Rain 8.5 U-wings that are a bit tight across the instep, with the lacing just a bit more open than I would like. On a wholecut especially, I prefer the lacing to be nearly closed. I have a pretty high instep (which is why so many Vass models fit me well). So I guess your impression was that Bonafe had MORE instep room than an equivalent size in Carmina Rain? If that is so, I'd lean toward the 8.5.

Patrik - thanks for your detailed sizing guide as well. Very tempted by these wholecuts.

Oh man. I might have a same problem but I just ordered those half a brogues. Well one never knows until he puts them on his feet. I socks of carious thickness so I may be able to make it work. We will see.

I recommend a UK 8.5.

More instep room than Rain for sure!
I have no Rain lasted oxfords, only dub monks and derbies.
I wear 41 in Vass F-last and 41 G in Vass U-last.

Patrik and Swede - thank you both - I agree 8.5 would be the safer bet.

Yes, since the EB lasts are quite generous over the instep, I would stay with the same size as Carmina's Rain.

Thank you Gabriel.

More pics and a review here: http://greedanddisgust.blogspot.com.au/2013/10/Carmina-Shoemaker-Wingtip-Brogue-922-Skoaktiebolaget-product-review.html

I must admit I was very impressed by the quality of the customer service and the how promptly my order was processed.

Hi Barcelona,

My name is Gabriel Öberg Bustad and I am the new Store Manager at Skoaktiebolaget. I will be glad to answer your fitting question for Forest and Oscar.

Both Forest and Oscar are normal fitting lasts, Oscar feels a little bit more snug over the instep but also has a more generous and spacious toe box than Forest. Forest has a toe box which is almost comparable to the 82 last from EG, maybe slightly more round in its shape. With Carmina shoes and their system for sizing, you go up a whole size from UK to US, which is different from EG. The fit should be very snug over the instep at first but if it does not feel better after the break in, a UK 8.5 might be better for both Oscar and Forest, but especially Oscar which is a little more snug over the instep.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Gabriel,

Thanks for the response.  Between the time I wrote my question and your answer I wore my Forest lasted shoes again but this time with a thin dress sock.  This seemed to take care of the tightness across the instep.

Leaves, may I know what's the extend of Bonafe's MTO? Are we limited to his existing models or can we come up with something totally new? Also, are they handweldt? Thanks.

Enzo Bonafé is hand welted, that is correct. Just about any style and model can be made up, just send us a picture and we can probably make up something similar. But you are limited to the three lasts we stock (363, 946, 2102) because these are the only ones we can provide fitting advise for. The MTO surcharge is 15%. Delivery time about three months. For a Group MTO the minimum number of participants are three.

That's great, Leaves! So anyone up for a group MTO for a EB version of Delos' adelaide on the chiselled last?  I am open to suggestion on colours but burgundy could be nice.        http://www.theshoesnobblog.com/2013/08/anthony-delos-a-legend-disappears-eaten-by-berluti.html
