Anyone ever have a problem paying on the site? I tried to buy my first pair of shoes from Skoaktiebolaget and it gave me "an error from gateway" when trying to pay from both my AMEX card and PayPal. Dropped them an e-mail, but thought I'd check here. Thanks in advance!

^^^ Happened to me 2x. My credit card blocked the charge bc it was a foreign transaction and they flagged it for fraud. I had to call them and tell them to approve. I was able to place the order immediately after that.

"Sko" means shoe and "aktiebolaget" means it's a limited company so it's basically "Shoes Ltd".

Exactly and aktiebolag shortens AB so the correct way to write the company name as short as possible would be SkoAB...not Skoakt or how people write it here on SF :)

(For other swedes, i know that SkoAB is not 100% grammatical correct either. But close enough :) )

We used an old form of company name, used mainly in the 1800s and early 1900s. The inspiration was from old boxes, like these:

1000

1000

Nitroglycerinaktiebolaget, as an example, was the company formed by Alfred Nobel. Skoaktiebolaget sounds old school in Swedish, but when you translate it to English it sounds kinda lame, but no one usually knows what it means (or how to pronounce it, a girl at Bonafé gave up on trying to pronounce it, she calls us Scotland Yard when she has to refer to us ).

The full legal name is Svenska Skoaktiebolaget (Svenska means Swedish)

Swedish Shoe Company.

I like it. Very quaint and unassuming.

How do you get Scotland Yard from skoaktiebolaget?

I'm american so I butcher it. Sk - Oak - Tie - Bowl - Ah - Get. It helps me when I try to type in the url.

The joy of autofill when sending e-mails... if not, Gabriel would have less communication from me. :)
