On my desk this morning, the wait was worth it.

I put my shell Jumpers to their paces right away and have been wearing them quite a bit since they arrived.

The great...the color was stunning and the shell gave that dark cognac the kind of glow you look for. The Oscar last is just perfect for a boot...very comfortable and roomy while maintaining a very sleek shape. They've broken in quite nicely and I'm quite happy with them overall. It's just a great value for the price paid on a shell boot.

The not so great...these have easily been the driest shell I've ever handled. From the moment they came out of the box, the sides of the vamp on both boots felt like a 5 o'clock shadow. I must have spent 2-3 passes with Reno just to smooth them out a little and I can already tell they're going to be dry when I pull them out of the box again later this week. Also, the finishing in general is just not quite up to what I've come to expect from my other investments.

I'm glad I jumped into this GMTO as these boots are everything I was looking for to round out my collection, but will likely stick with StC, JL and GG in the future. Shout out again to Coxaca for getting this organized!

Instead of Reno which tends to be a lot drier, you might want to try Saphir Neutral Cordovan cream. It moisturizes the leather a lot better. I have used this on a couple of pairs of my cordovan shoes or boots when I found them to be too dry and was very happy with the results.

Most places that carry Saphir products will stock it. Hanger Project, Epaulet, and I also think Leffot as well has it.

Dan, thanks for the recommendation. I do have the dark brown #05 of the Saphir Cordovan shoe cream, but I don't want accidentally darken them so I guess I'll have to place an order with Kirby. How did your Jumpers turn out?

Try Bickmore Bick 4, it's great for Cordovan and is available in the US.

No problem and I hope this works as good for you as it has for me so far. I can certainly.understand your concerns in regards to taking the chance and possibly darkening these beauties.. My Lindricks and Marlows were always dry but the neutral cream seems to bring out the luster a lot better than Reno. Reno just seems to dry things out more.

I really like the way the Jumpers turned out and in fact they seem to have a much better luster than my Lindricks or Marlows at least when I first got them. The Jumpers just don't seem as dry, but then again I have yet to wear them yet.. I have an aversion to wearing some of my better shoes and boots when there's so much salt outside.

I purchased the grained jumpers with the york sole, is it advisable to wear them in the snow? I would think it is okay since the leather part of the sole is not in contact with the ground, but I have no prior experience so I'm not sure if that would still wear out the soles somehow. Thank you for any help.

No problem, wear them in snow, just make sure to wipe any stains off after wear because the salt used on the streets during winter will cause damage to the uppers. The salt will eventually dry out the leather and crack it if not removed properly.

Well, the day finally arrived. When I last posted, I had left work a few minutes before my jumper boots were delivered. That was nine days ago.

This morning I arrive at work to find this package -



On opening the carton, that classic Carmina red box comes into view -



Inside the box: three pairs of socks, courtesy of the fine folk at Skoaktiebolaget. My reward for putting this group MTO together -



Two pair of Sozzi Calze knee-lengths, and one pair of Fair Isle country knits -



And now, to the nitty gritty -



OMG OMG OMG they are gorgeous! Who could care less about Justin Bieber's retirement now? -







The specified shell cordovan colour was "dark Cognac", and that's exactly what we got. This is a stunning colour.





We decided on an understated brown lining for this group MTO, as opposed to the more florid purple found inside most Carmina boots -



Dainite soles for those rainy days -



The fit is perfect!
