I personally applaud EG for this decision. It gives their shoes a kind of "artistic integrity" in a world where every other shoe maker lets you decide just about everything, just as long as you pay enough.

You are both correct actually. From what I have been told from Hilary it's a combination of "artistic integrity" and a way to create a leaner production line. This is my personal reflection, but I think changes had to be made during the rough years in Northampton, it's widely know that EG was going through a rough patch a few years back. Companies do what they have to do in order to survive and stay competitive. Although it was a bit frustrating with the limitations at first as a new EG retailer (as many of you know, I have been working with Tony and Dean for G&G as their agent in Germany and Scandinavia for a few years and compared to G&G, EG can feel rigid sometimes), it's something I have gotten used to. EG has so many iconic models to chose from I don't feel it's an issue.

Leaves & Gabriel, do you think there would be enough customer interest for something like this?

So all exotics are 'MTO'?

Not crocodile, but here is a picture of chobochobo's alligator wholecuts on the Rain last, from the "Black tie" thread:

I was a bit concerned that the Rain last would be a bit too blobby, but it's great.

Cheers. Using my post (on alligator) to answer my question (on croc)? Just kidding smile.gif

My two bits about the EG situation, their 'inflexibility' was what led me to change my Ronald McDonald Childrens Home charity shoe 2012, originally an EG (courtesy of Leathersoul) into a St Crispin. Basically, from what LS told me, there was very little leeway - even in getting stuff in combinations that they had made before. Thankfully this year, the RMCH shoe auction was St Crispin from the beginnning.

D'oh! facepalm.gif

Sorry - I didn't even notice that you were the one who had asked the question!

No problem, thanks for taking the time to answer. The difference between croc and alligator for Carmina is quite striking though.

This Edward Green Asquiths on the 888 last Midnight Blue is wonderful!

Any possibility to launch a GMTO?

Stunning!

Just a lovely shade and beautiful shoes. Not sure about the name, though. "Midnight" suggests a very dark blue to me, and these appear closer to a cross between denim and lavender. But what's in a name? Baller shoes whatever you call them.

Hi, just wondering if there is any chance you will restock the Carmina Balmoral Boot in Grain Combo in the near future.

Thanks
