Wish I were more certain on sizing on those - please report! I suspect I need a half size and the full size up might be too big. Absolutely terrific shoes - congrats!

How is the Rain last length wise for you?

In most shoes. 8.5 is good for me in Rain. Certainly good enough in length. I tend to size up by a half for tall boots.  Given the generous instep on most Bonafe lasts, I'm thinking that a full 9 might be a bit too roomy and have too much heel slip.  My 946 last derby boots are a good "boot fit" for me, which is to say slightly generous - enough to allow thicker socks.

I have Bonafe 946 last chukka in 10, it is a little bit tight, just a tiny bit tight.
I have Bonafe 946 last wholecut in 10.5, it is a little bit too long for me.
I take Rain last in size 10, both shoes in boots and it is almost a perfect last for me.

In your case I would recommend staying with 8.5. I think shoes in 9 may indeed be too roomy.

I would agree with that assessment for Roger to go with 8.5. I have the Bonafe 946 wholecut in size 8 and to me it feels fairly close to Rain last in the same size. The Bonafe is slightly narrower in the toe box area, but not significantly for me. The rest of the shoe seems fairly similar to Rain.

We'll see how those Norvegese wingtip derbys turn out next week.icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Is it a bad thing that I can reference from memory probably 20 different Carmina models by model#?  Should I be using that brainpower for something more productive?

Carmina 80274 (tanker boot) on the Tarnsjano leather.

Anyone...Bueller?  Bueller?

^^^ That sounds like a frickin' awesome makeup, but as above, I'm out for this year.

And frankly, when it comes to brown derby boots of any kind, for the foreseeable future my answer is "Negative, Ghostrider, the pattern in full."  :D  I think I must have half a dozen. :embar:

That is pretty impressive. I know a few of the guys on Alden that can do that. I can name probably more for EG since they're just names though... Hell, I can easily name 12: Shannon I, II, III, IV...XII!

Are there still any interest in the blue boots, as an GMTO?

I can imagine either this Carmina.

With Dainete sole, navy calf on the upper and navy suede on the shaft.

Maybe with a "museum-patina" made by Alexander Nurulaeff.

Or this Bonafe`

With Dainete sole. Navy upper and navy suede shaft.

Well you'd only need three for the Bonafe, and I am down for a blue boot.  Navy museum upper with navy suede shaft would be such hotness the boots would melt the snow with every step.

Black suede shaft smile.gif I could be persuaded but I think Bonafe does not have blue musuem calf.
