@Leaves - any idea who produced the Mountain Ram leather? Or any additional info you might have. I'm curious about the stuff, as an enthusiast.

We are relentless. We are on the hunt.

Lol. I know it's not currently available (and maybe never will be). But I am always on the lookout, and the more info I compile, the better.

Edited.

I suppose one can opt for Bullfrog, Buffalo, or Stag from G&G in the meantime:

There is no buffalo anymore either. I inquired about it a few months ago, @GabrielOB was interested in buffalo from G&G too but there is no more.
Stag is only available for bespoke orders I inquired about that leather too.

I am not a fun of bullfrog.

Sometimes two wrongs make one right.

I was not fan of Mountain Ram when I saw a pair of chukka made out of that leather.
I was never fan of Thorpe.

Now I want it.

Thanks, it's actually not that offputting in real life. I wasn't a big fan of exotics as well but I jumped at the chance to get something that may never well come around again. It's not that far of a stretch from hatch grain and country calf. It's an acquired taste but definitely not as out there as something like ostrich or lizard. More like a deeply textured calf.

I haven't worn them yet but it doesn't seem any more fragile than any other leather. The thickness is about on par with calf, maybe a little thicker. It's kind of irrelevant though since I wouldn't put these through any major stress tests but I wouldn't baby these for sure.

Thanks, That's the plan. I guess these could be worn with jeans or chinos but I'd prefer the look with tweed. I might have been better off going a more casual looking last for this but we'll see.

Thanks smoothie. We will see which is better between Kudu and Ram in a month or two. I am expecting the same exact model and specs except in tan kudu and speed hooks. I will post a side-by-side then.

I'm kind of glad I jumped on both though. You guys and your zugs and willows trying to make me green with envy, at least now I have a retort!

Honestly, before leaves posted that photo of his st james ii, there weren't any real good photos of it online. The Chukka was at a weird angle, indoors, with bad lighting so it never really had a chance. I know there are more mountain ram shoes out there but it seems like the owners try and hide them from the world which seems to heighten it's exclusivity.

I liked the Kudu, and I thought it was especially well suited for shoes. Both Kudu and Mountain Ram are definitely cool. You were wise to get both. Kudos.

I respect your retort, but Zug, Zug, Zug...Willow for life! icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Zug has no peer.

The mountain ram and kudu are both sick though. Wish I could have good on both.

Brown plain toe blucher or burgundy Adelaide with a medallion on the rain last in a EEE?

50% is rather a lot, I think I am better of with JM weston which would cost the same, but has the luxury to own its own tannery for uppers and soles. A gmto would be an option, if enough people would be interested. I always wanted an adelaide in burgundy, less fan of a plain too blucher.

Last time I asked skoak's team about different widths for an GMTO during last spring I received the answer that only G&G allows up to one other width and we don't have to expect something similar from other makers. I don't think the other brands changed their politics recently.

To avoid the 50% or other mark up, I am trying to gauge any interest in the following GMTO for Rain lasted EEE wearers.

Maker: Carmina
Style: Adelaide
Color: Vegano Burdeaux
Last: Rain
Width: EEE only

Similar make ups in Non-EEE.

Cap toe with medallion, medallion only, or other toe make up?

We'd need 5 others to get it going. @Dieg0?
