I saw on your blog that AM offers thick buttons, but just because it's offered (like pink alligator) doesn't mean it's in good taste. However, for me, the main objection to the thick buttons are their lack of functionality, though I do think they're kind of cartoony.
The function is the pleasure I get from pinching a big button between my fingers. I'm not sure what that says about my inner psyche, but I am more than ready to admit that big buttons don't necessarily aid in any objective functionality. But that's why I like them (and expensive mechanical watches, and shaving cream that smells like mint, and just enough cologne so that only I can smell it): they offer certain tactile or sensual feedback that only I get to enjoy. And I frankly don't care if someone else thinks my buttons are bigger than normal since I get to pinch them between my fingers.
Anyway, the wider diameter large buttons make more sense than the smaller diameter large buttons (like on Borrellis), because they at least offer the advantage of staying on the right side of the button hole.
