SOLD

I purchased these shoes via this thread. The fit isn't quite as good as I'd like, so I've decided to sell them. I'm just trying to break even here. Shipping in the USA is included. Trees and bags are not included. They will ship in the original box, though note that the box is a little dinged up.

Here are the imperfections I can find on them (I tried to capture these in the pictures):
  1. There is some color variation in the leather.
  2. On the back of both shoes there is a single small nick in the leather. They do not look deep, and I imagine that the color could be improved with some dark brown shell cordovan creme, though I have decided to let the next owner attempt this if he wants to.
  3. The leather on one side of the heel of one shoe appears drier than the rest of the leather (I've read similar things on the C&J for RL thread). It's possible that some cordovan creme or reno would help this out, but again I will let the next owner decide if he wants to try this out.

If these fit better, I would personally not see these are deal breakers, and I do not think any of them would affect the durability of the shoes, but I wanted to be upfront so that you can decide for yourself.

Hi,

Could you please comment on the general width of these as well as how the heel fits?

Thanks,

Dan, I apologize for the delay in responding. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question:

For loafers, the only reference I have is the Alden LHS, which I don't own, but think I wear size 11 C (narrow to reduce heel slip). I'm an 11.5 D on the AE 5 last, though that is for lace up balmorals. On the Alden barrie, I know I'm an 11 D for boots.

For me, the width and heel tightness seems to be about right. Not too tight, but also not much if any heel slip (these have thick soles, so I imagine they would require some break in time).

My fit issue is that the sides of the shoes come up a little higher than I would like, and seem to rub against my ankle. Note that (1) I have had issues like this in the past with other shoes, so I suspect that this is just a biological issue for me -- I've read the majority of the C&J for RL thread and never heard anyone complain about this -- and might even been resolved with an insole, and (2) it's possible that this design results in better "cuppage" of the heel, if that's a word/makes sense.

You might also consider contacting some people on the C&J for RL thread who own and have worn these loafers for a while for fit advice.
