I've heard this as well. However it does seem that Mr. Levin is doing his best to promote the business as an active one.

I have also heard some gossip about his management practices which is probably best not to repeat here. The relevant problem here is how the product line is curated.

I agree. I certainly would not wish that the latest incarnation of a San Francisco institution,
and one of the the surviving family-owned men's stores in the Bay Area, be judged by
gossip about the previous generation's finances and management practices. Mr Levin
is in charge now and the business will thrive or fail on the choices he makes and the market.
Anyone visiting San Francisco with an affinity for distinctive menswear should include Cable
Car Clothiers in their shopping itinerary.
