I can't believe I am going to say this, but I am a Lopez convert. I was able to find them on a really good sale and they fit my feet extremely well. This is so strange because I have narrow feet and often find shoes fit me too big.

I understand the Lopez are supposed to be very generous fitting, so maybe this is why the size for my smaller foot seems to fit my bigger foot better than expected. I am also finding that is the additional structure and shape in the heel cup of higher end brands like Lobb and EG seems to work better for my narrow, more curved heels.

Although in a perfect world I would prefer a pair of something like the Fencotes or the Edward Green Pimlico for styling reasons, these were just too good a deal in terms of both price and fit.

I never understood why people found the Lopez to be generous in fit. I have your typical flat footed feet and high instep, and I am not able to wear the Lopez hurting my feet (true to size) or having the shoe gape (half size larger).

My guess is that people thought it's generous because of its rounder shape.

My problem is my feet are narrow and boney and my left is a full half size larger. Generally speaking, I tend to have a lot of looseness at both the instep and heel. Typically when I buy to fit my left, it is obnoxious large for my right. I end up needing an insole and/or tongue pad and still have often have heel slip. If I buy a half size down to fit my smaller foot, it is often too short and narrow on the left (around the little toes).

I think the less asymmetrical toebox on the Lopez gives me much needed room on the outside of the left to fit both well. I'm also getting surprisingly nice, even creases on both the left and right which is extremely rare for me.

Flat foot, high instep and broad foot, the Lopez is just about the only loafer I can wear unless I go bespoke. EG loafers, comical. The only EG i have of similar style that fits reasonably well are my Henley MTO’s, while the Marylebone MTO’s and Tewksbury‘MTO’s wear okay for events, they are not walkable shoes.

Well, my luck sucks! I wore my Lopez loafers for the first time today (just a short break in wear for an hour and a walk to the mailbox) and when I took them off to put them away, I was horrified to discover that the leather is tearing away at the apron seam:

Strangest thing ever! Since I got these on sale, I'm wondering if they had sat out on display too long or something and the leather dried out. I didn't condition or polish them before their first wear based on the advice I'd seen on here and from the Shoe Snob blog.

Hopefully Tessabit will let me return them for a refund.

Hopefully, this is a clearer image:

The round little shapes are frayed/torn leather at the end of each stitch. They weren't there this morning when I put the shoes on and only seem to be happening at the front of the toe. They aren't there on the brown pair I got on the same sale. The photo is pretty high resolution so you should be able to expand/zoom in on them. It's like the leather is pulling apart at the apron seam or something.

I haven't bought used loafers before, and the condition looked good. Are there things I should ask the seller or are there other issues from the pictures?

Loafers can be tricky, try a pair before bidding, if you didn't yet.

Yep, I tried in the NYC store and I'm a 8.5E (UK) in the Lopez style, so I think it'll fit right.
