John Lobb Appreciation Thread - Page 67

I think I am accepting that although the 8K is a sharp last, it just does not have enough height in the heel for shoes to work for me; the 7K still is great though. This construction difference is enough to favor other brands for me (e.g., EG, G&G).

Too bad... I worked hard getting my hands on my Woodcotes.

Gorgeous - I love monk shoes, but my own feet are too tiny for double monk buckles!!!

My next order will be for another pair of boots, but in a different colour and leather (current pair are Black Mid Box Calf)smile.gif

The old trees are more good looking, but I suppose the new ones are designed for a purpose, perhaps to take care of below. I'd personally wish to swap all my old trees for new ones

What's the problem?

The new trees take care of the old tree metal knob color fading problem, afaik.

William in brown buffalo leather. Plus William's mate: Kiton single monks.

Both pairs are gorgeous!!!

I wish I still had my first 2 pairs of Lobbs- black oxfords and black jodhpur boots, but I wore them to the excusion of all other footwear and wore them out...same with 3 pairs of JM Westons and a less comfortable pair of Crockett and Jones...all sadly worn out

Now I baby my Lobbs and Gaziano and Girlings so that they last as long as I do!smile.gif

This is my guess, the new trees would help keep the upper part of tongue in shape. Old ones ended mid way so creases on upper tongue from tying laces remain and with time tongue gets de-shaped.

Perhaps discoloration is also a factor in redesign, though I didn't notice any on knobs yet,,, maybe after some more years they will show signs. Don't know if knobs are coated with same material as buckles, but appears good quality.
