John Lobb Appreciation Thread - Page 43

gusvs, these are real buties.

How much have you waited? I also thought ordering MTO JL shoe, mainly because of the color that is no longer produced as "standard", and was told waiting period is around 6 months. My biggest concern was that I could not find their color palette on the web, and guy working in Jermnyn store told me that they do have catalogue of leather in their store and not on the web, and advised me I should NOT order these based on online impression of color .. So I left not knowing how to proceed ..

So, how did you pull the trigger on Tobacco suede? Did you first saw them online, or you had some catalogue .. I know Tobacco is still standard leather color on JL web page, and can be seen in many styles .. I thought ordering some color like Purple, or Plum ..

Thanks! I have seen the color in stores, but would probably have gone for it only based on online pictures. As you say, Tobacco suede is fairly standard. "Odd" colors such as Purple or Plum I would probably like to see in person before ordering.

Plum museum calf - described by some retailers as purple - is in the JL burgundy family. I have plum museum calf Williams and they are more or less a dark burgundy with eggplant hues. A great and versatile color IMO.

JL Plum museum is a stunning color in person. Subtle yet has personality. The color I really want next.

Get it from Vass, infinitely cheaper unless you want a JL specific shoe.

gusvs, you picked a wonderful shoe and color. Here goes trying to keep them clean.

Small pull tab!

Totally bespoke from St James in London, so slight chisel but basically the exact shape of my feet.

My made to measure Gaziano and Girlings have a more chiselled toe but not the wow comfort factor.smile.gif

lhuynh, may I ask you, or anyone else who is willing to help me- on your opinion regarding the JL Dark Brown Museum Calf? ..

How does that color looks to you under normal day light and everyday use .. I hesitate ordering another pair of Lopez, this time in Dark Brown Museum, as my major concern is - will it be clearly recognizable as brown as I have a feeling sometimes it is too dark and almost might be mistaken with black, under lower light condition .. So, I saw in your closet cleaning ad that you do have a pair of JL in that color, so wondered if you could advice me ..

IMO, it will not be mistaken as black. It is a very pleasant color.
