I believe that is a Museum Calf Walnut.

Real question is: How did they manage to remain unworn for a decade!

I bought the shoes along with my best friend for myself in the hope to wear them on his wedding but sadly he passed away at the age of 39 all of a sudden from a massive heart attack! This left me devastated as you can imagine.

I have never been able to get myself to wear them and neither the courage to part with them, I am hoping I can wear them at my sons wedding if I do not get a chance to wear them before that!

There has not been a day in the last nine years that I have not missed my friend who was just like myself , crazy as me about shoes, cigars , scotch, watches and you name it what not! Anyway enough said

that is a true friendship and it is great that you have been able to treasure it and now have at least one item to always remind you of the great times that you had with him.

As some of you may remember at the end of a last year I bought a pair of William II monks in my regular UK 9 E size. What I felt was a complete disaster. To sum it up, my heel was so loose that I expected it to jump out of the shoe any moment. Some suggested it's because of a double leather sole which was not broken in, but I had a strange feeling like the whole shoe is half size bigger but just in the heel area.

My Q. for someone wearing a William II is .. Would you suggest sizing down a half size but go for a wider fit? Should I gamble with a 8.5 EE instead of my regular JL 9E?

I thought I will never look back on William II, however, there is no prettier monk on the market for my taste.

Based on the info above - You should try going down to 8.5 E. Sounds like the 9E too big.

Remember the 9795 Last on the William II is more spacious around the heels and toes
compared to JL popular 8000, 7000 lasts.

Hope this helps.
