John Lobb Appreciation Thread - Page 239

Hi guys, hoping to get some sizing advice before plunging into my first pair of Lobbs. Apologies in advance if this is not the right place to post this.

I was looking to get a pair of the black museum calf jodhpurs in the 7000 last or the Brentwood single monk in the 2511 last. I was thinking 9UK, based on my research, but wanted to hear any advice you gentlemen might have first.

All sizes as marked on shoe.

Boot socks

  • 9EE (Wide) Rain Carmina - a bit too wide, instep good
  • 9 Rain Carmina - slightly narrow, instep low (only tried on at SkoAB)
  • 9 Oscar Carmina - width okay, instep low and toes too low
  • 9 Forest Carmina - width okay, instep low
  • 10 42 Rider- width okay, instep and toes have a bit of pressure, but not uncomfortable

Dress socks:

  • 9.5 42 Rider - perfect fit
  • 10 Galet Berluti - great fit with Superfeet Black
  • 9.5 65 Allen Edmonds - great fit (but linen shoe)
  • 9.5 678 Allen Edmonds - too narrow, too low
  • 9.5 114 Allen Edmonds - too narrow, too low

Many thanks in advance!

This was from the bespoke event at the Houston store. They said the price fluctuates in terms of USD due to the USD to GBP exchange rate. Last year the price was over $8k for shoes.

Sounds like the rate is in the 7k area. But definitely try these on before you spend.

Has anyone see these boots before or are they a new model? I dont recall seeing them in the store last time I was there. They look pretty nice

Saw those pictures on the KR/JP instagrams.  Those are AW2016 models demoed in LCM.  The casual stuff is okay.  I don't get the metal tab top eyelet thing for the dressy shoes; seems to be PG's "design element".

After many years behind this model, WII finally arrived in Pewter MC.  The leather is perfect and the shade is amazing (difficult to represent in pics).

FWIW, I wear 8.5 EE on the 7000 and 8000 lasts (they do not fit me well) and 8.E on the WII 9795 last.

I figured that most people would get slightly different quotes but that is a good estimate on price. I also got measurements and it sounds like they will be good in length compared to what I currently have, and the width seems like it may be a bit wide. I'm thinking that if the width is a bit off I probably can have a sock liner added to adjust the width.

I'm also thinking that if the shoe is being sold because the person who commissioned the pair has died, JL should be able to let me have the last and adjust it slightly for me so I can have it relasted to a better width. What are your thoughts?

The same guy also sold a pair of JL bespoke on eBay that was slightly used and the one pair sole for about 400 with the other pair selling for 550. Neither had bags or trees but I'm thinking I should base my offer on those pairs sold. This pair is new which would add value as well as the trees and bags so what is your thought on 800 or so? Do you think that sounds fair because it is a tough to fit size or should I do a bit more?

The pewter really grew on me very fast. Its like a gray/brown depending on the lighting. I have no ventured into double monk territory but bought thr phillip ii in pewter.

I noticed the metal tab after you mentioned. Thats just an odd design element especially on the black cap toe oxfords they have featured..

Thanks Ttown, I had that model in mind since I was a kid. I received those on friday together with a pair EG Dover!!.  I will receive a pair of EB boots on April and I am out of the game for the rest of my life (hopefully).

Thanks Nikola, finally I moved down from 8.5 to 8 uk (I had to test at least 5 WII different pairs in different days to be sure) and from Parisean MC to Pewter MC.  Both issues have drove me crazy to take my final decision. :)

Cobblers should be able to adjust the shoes to fit.

How are the Chapels sized? Compared to either G&G or Carmina or Alfred Sargent
