Sure I see some threads and a number of posts.

However I have yet to find an appreciation thread like there is for Gaziano & Girling, Edward Green, Crockett and Jones, ior even Carmina.

The threads that do exist don't tend to come up as often as those mentioned above.

I guess there's just not that much interest or such a big following for John Lobb????

Well, I love John Lobb, have a few pairs, but don't really feel the need to start a thread about it.

Understand, I just thought I would test the waters and see why one didn't exist.

Besides the other threads for other shoes sure were great assistance to me when first buying some of their shoes.

Where to buy, last sizes and so on.

people seem to be more interesting in the mile long and utterly ridiculous looking G&G decos and the like.

I appreciate John Lobbs, but not to the extent that I'd spend the $1,200 on them.

SF loves John Lobb. i don't know why there never has been an appreciation/Appreciation thread for it, but if you started one i think it will grow as big as the EG and GG threads

I've been giving it some thought.

The problem is I won't even have my first pair until they arrive in the next couple of days.

Being such a rookie I wouldn't be able to start with the normal info on the places to buy and so forth.

Anyway I guess I'll see what feedback I get on this thread before I make my next move.

Every year in October we have a thread here, discussing the new JLP "St Crepin" style.

Just a theory, but to me, Lobb doesn't have the pull of a cult brand like G&G, nor does it have the pseudo "discovery" element of Carmina. I remember a period where every new shoe post was Carmina. Perhaps Lobb is just taken for granted, its fans are more understated, or others just aren't very vocal about it. Just because you start a Lobb thread doesn't mean that you have to be the resident expert in the thread!

I wasn't aware of that, but do you know why there isn't one like the others mentioned above?

Thanks,

I actually thought that some of the same things you had mentioned might be the case.

I was and I am still a bit hesitant to start one, because of that lack of knowledge and a bit of fear that I might be stepping out of bounds.

Certainly. I think eventually all those threads devolve into reams of pictures of the same shoe though.

But, hey, this thread may be the new Lobb thread. They are the only shoes I buy, so I will keep a look out here.

It's worth a shot anyway.

I actually did create another thread after a couple of posts on this one. A couple of people recomended it, so I created the John Lobb Appreciation Thread.

John Lobb is nice, but in a very discrete way. Unlike Edward Green with their playful burnishing and stiff arch support, or G&G last design.
