Any American shoes brands that offer more aesthetically pleasing shoes?

Thread Starter

The past years I've bought a couple (Allen Edmonds, Alden), mostly because they've been the "staple" recommendations around here. But truth to be told, when I look at them now, they just look like something a 50-60 year old politicians would wear. Too conservative, shapeless, roomy, round...all of it. They are the sack-suit of shoes.

So, which companies offer more sleek lasts and designs?

(and before "Why just don't you buy English or Italian shoes...", more options. plain and simple)

There has GOT to be some better looking shoes that are on par with AE in terms of quality and price.

There are but they are generally made in Europe. For bespoke US shoes you can go with
Perry Ercolino, but a pair run several thousand:

Vincent & Edgar, Oliver Moore, and E. Vogel are some of the more established custom bespoke shoemakers in New York that I know

Good quality
Sleek & stylish
Affordable

Pick two. You don't get all three options with American shoemakers.

If you're willing to venture outside the US, you'll find better style and quality at AE-competitive pricing. Meermin comes to mind: basically, they make shoes that are better looking than, on par with or slightly exceeding the quality of, and priced within the same range as AE.
