Spoo usually has more lighting but Holdfast's pics are always pretty good. Holdfast shows his face most of the time and has that big smile. biggrin.gif

They have their own unique individual styles. If they each would be able to prepare for the thing I think it'd be a close match.

Given that Spoo & I have somehow been dragged into this, I have to say that quite honestly, I do find the whole "who is dressed better" ridiculously daft. It's fine when done purely for shits & giggles as in these threads or in the old Friday contests. No-one really took those particularly seriously either. Well I suppose one or two did, but they were just being silly. As a serious exercise I find them rather pointless. We all do things that others will find interesting, and things that others will find banal. I find viewing outfits in that light far more enjoyable than comparing them directly in a fit battle. I've yet to find one person's style that I look at, and think, "yeah that's what I want to look like". Frankly, I hope I never do. It's all an idea here, a nuance there, and trying to pull them together in a way that works for what I do.

(BTW, the answer's Spoo, coz I know he must still have his secret stash of Versace swag ready to bring into play. Now that's what I call a cool cat. cool.gif )

That's fair enough. However, Spoo puts a lot of time and effort into coordinating colour, texture, and pattern, and he's spent an enormous amount of money building a wardrobe to fulfill that end. You take a more carefree attitude, which is fine, but I think it's fair for me to judge the results and conclude that you don't come out looking quite as good as Spoo. Silly or nay, that's the way I see it.

Yeah, that's a fair enough answer too; I get where you're coming from and certainly wouldn't argue against it. Spoo frequently looks smashing.

I guess what I'm saying is that I've no real dog in the fight (or perhaps more accurately, there's no real fight in the dog). I tend to view SF (and menswear, or fashion in general) as us all having lots & lots of fun playing dress-up. That's why it's so enjoyable to do the intrinsically silly things that we do, like post photos of ourselves wearing the results of our playtime in WAYWRN threads, or spend silly money buying bits of rag to loop around our necks or to stuff in our pockets. :)

I think we should have a competition of whom we'd most like to read an in depth conversation between. upr_crust and Holdfast or Foo and Manton.

i agree with you as far as sweeping generalizations go. i think its ok for a fit v fit in a vacuum, but saying, so and so ALWAYS looks better than so and so... that i think is off. (yes yes, i know that certain people are pretty much always at the top of the game, that is not what i am talking about)

For the full 3rd person auditory hallucinatory effect, I propose iroh & Reevolving.

Or the barely repressed homoeroticism in a conversation between in stitches and DerekS

(as always, love the genial attitude that stitches brings to anything he touches, and of late, though perhaps I'm just now noticing, I've very much been enjoying DerekS's posts)

I love Holdfast and would never "battle" him. We have different styles, similar to an extent, but he's got a winning smile and I cant beat that.

But a Spoo/Foo battle would be fun. devil.gif

Holdfast is definitely the best poster in this thread right now.

^ Thanks. I 'll put the temporary inspiration down to having only recently got home from the pub. :)

Is this the moment where we run across a meadow into each others arms? It feels like it. Someone, cue the music and slow motion cameras...

As for Spoo/Foo, the Earth only just avoided a global apocalypse with that meteorite. Are you really sure we ought to push our luck?!
