I typically buy 30s. My last pair of jeans stretched from a 30 to about 31/31.5. I didnt measure the 28s before I put them on, but thats not really sizing down at all as far as I know. Or maybe it is sizing down 1.5...?

I can't imagine myself too about sizing down like 4. I even like to size up one and wearing the pants with a belt

Hey guys, I know I should hold off washing my jeans for as long as possible for "nice" fades, but what if I don't want something drastic?

I think the confusion comes from people talking about sizing down from their normal size vs. sizing down from their true waist size.

I sized down one from my true waist (like 30.5). I probably could've squeezed into a 28 but I'm not sure how the seams would've held up... I'm pretty sure the seams near my calves are starting to open up (I can see some white where there's supposed to be blue, almost able to see the threads)

Washing the jeans would probably accentuate the fades more, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi guys,

Long time lurker. Even after thoroughly reading this thread, I still found the recommendations on sizing to be confusing due to personal preference.

I've had my pair of indigo PS for 2 months I'd just like to give my 2 cents to help those who might be confused. Just for comparison I used to wear size 32 Levi's 510s and I'm 5'9", 150 lbs. Here's my experience:

I went to the San Francisco Barney's store and vanity sized down 2 to size 30 as per the recommendation of styleforum and the sales rep (super helpful). They didn't have the size at this store, so I tried on the size 31 pair they did have. This pair proved to be too loose (in APC terms); the top button buttoned with ease. They ended up ordering a size 30 pair to be mailed (free shipping) to me from the Beverly Hills store. I received the package 3 days later. After trying them on, they felt exactly like the size 31 pair (maybe even looser), which was confusing to me because they should have been tighter. At this time, I debated whether or not to return them because I worried that they would eventually stretch 2 more inches as most experienced APC owners would attest to. Eventually, I called the sales rep (left me his number after checking up on my delivery) who told me to return them for a size 29 just in case.

Going back into the store for the exchange, I found out that they had received a new shipment of pristine, unworn PS in 29 and 30 and opted to try them both on. Upon touching the new pairs, I noticed that the denim was a lot stiffer and more resilient that the first pair. The size 29 pair was incredibly tight (ballbusters) as I could not even button the second to last button. My friend, upon seeing them on me, called them jeggings, a description I was not willing to accept. The sales rep took one long, almost uncomfortable look at me and dissuaded me from sizing down that much from his own experience where his pair of PS did not stretch as much as he had hoped after 6 months of wear (he no longer wears them due to discomfort). The size 30 pair was a better fit as I could actually button all of the buttons culminating in a tight, snug fit. I chose this pair. It turns out the disparity in fit between the 2 size 30 jeans, according to the sales rep, was because the first, ostensibly new pair had been sitting around in the Beverly Hills store for months, accumulating stretch and wear by the customers. In other words, it was what some would call the town bicycle :p . Moral of the story: size down 2 and make sure your pair is as untouched as possible because it could seriously skew your perception of sizing.

Even after sizing correctly, the first 2 weeks of wear were still very painful. The moderately cool weather in San Francisco combined with the rubbing of the denim on your hips produced the same exact itchy, inflammatory feeling as a cold morning run would on your inner thighs. I had to excuse myself in order to alleviate the miserable, burning sensation through scratching. I also found myself doing squats to expedite the stretching process (still don't know if it worked). Right now, the jeans are pretty comfortable. I like them, but man are they stiff, even compared to a new pair of Levi's 510s. Does anyone know if and when they will eventually become more compliant? Also, the leg twist that has developed on my right leg probably isn't noticeable to others, but it really bothers me. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Lastly, my legs are by no means short, but the jeans still look unnaturally long, producing many folds. I don't want to cuff them yet. Has anyone attempted to get these jeans hemmed? What is the resulting look, especially in regards to them being tapered at the bottom?

I'd say a couple of months of wear they will become noticeably less stiff+ you'll get used to them. Nothing you can do about the leg twist.

Anyone know where to get a pair of washed petits or NS right now?

I got a pair of brand new PS for sale for $130.00 size32, with tags. Price is a steal

You did not read this thread thoroughly.

Just wondering if anyone on the forum had these A.P.C moccasin loafers.... I've been looking for them all over and they're a few seasons back but if anyone has them and is willing to sell, I'm willing to pay a pretty penny for them.

Thanks for helping, Merril.

I bought my first NS online a couple of months ago in the color "Steel Blue" because it was ridiculously cheap and it was new... however the only size available was a 27 but I figured that pair would be like the other NSs... boy was I wrong. To this day I can't button up the buttons all the way... I'm normally a size 28/29 but I don't think this pair stretches at all... which sucks :(

This has probably been addressed, but I couldn't find it thru the search function. Do the black MIJ petit standards stretch as much as the indigo? Don't want my jeans to be too tight...
bryan my exp is anytime you don't want your jeans to be too tight they will end up being too tight.
