Ok, I'm taking the plunge. Totally new to premium raw denims here. I fit pretty well in a size(the one found on the label) 29 Diesel. Not too lose, not too tight. I can also fit into size 6 women's levi's(not the premium ones though), and it's quite tight. Problem is, I tried on several jeans today, all were 29s(are these actual wiast sizes? because my true waist is around 30-31) and I could not even get the last button(zip flys are a different story)! All were presumably used(one redline Levi's, and two selvedge brands I forgot) so they should have stretched by now, since this was in Buffalo Exchange(for those not familiar, they are a cool clothing trade-buy-sell shop). Are button flys less forgiving? Should I get a size 27 NS following the rule by on the first page? I just don't know if the sizes posted are actual waist sizes or just those found on the label(I've always thought they were actual waist measurements). I also do not have any stores to try them on. Unless you consider going all the way up to LA from San Diego just to try them on is practical. Or, maybe you can recommend where in SD I can find them? I tried looking in almost every botique in Gaslamp Quarter today and no luck. I did find some G-star raw denim in Urban Outfitters.

No, it's just diesel which is generously sized and levis (at least the 501) are high waisted and true to size (a W30 is 30").

Currently I wear Levis 501 and 505, I prefer the 505 but both are great. I would like try a pair of selvege denim to see if I like them. I would like to try a pair of apc jeans.

1 which APC jeans fit like levis 505,501 between the "straight cut" and the "new standard"?

2 i like my jeans a little loose in levis I wear 34" "rinse" wash which size raw apc should I buy to match?

ok being a newbie here i just wanted to ask (since i read the thread and couldn't find the answer)

i can wear a size 29x32 nudie slim jims and these fit tight and i like the look of these on ..i dont think i could fit a size 28 because my thighs are a little larger than normal

so my question is what size in APC new standards would give me the same fit/look as the size 29 slim jims that i wear?

and also, has anyone tried the 'narrow' style by APC, how do they compare to NS or slim jims?

ok i have a question, i wear a size 30 in levi's skinner jeans. i like a fitted look, and i am going to buy some new standards, should i go for a 28 or a 27? any advice is wonderful thanks.

Ok, despite all the info, I still can't quite figure out my size for New Standards. I like my jeans fitted but not super tight, and I wear a 31 in RRDS, which is perfect in the waist and pretty good in the thigh, but I could probably stand to have them be a tad looser through the thigh. Seat and waist are perfect. I wash my jeans on cold after about a week of wear, and hang them to dry, so they stay raw looking. I like the waist to end up pretty firm fitting, so that I don't get any bunching around the waistband or buckling at the fly, but I don't want them to stay pinched. So what size? If I had to guess, based on what people have said, I'd want either a 30 or a 31. Also, I have a pair of PDC LTD 2-yr that are a 32 and a good fit in the waist. So what would you suggest?

I think that a size 28 would be absolutely perfect for your situation.

Does APC straight come any smaller than 29? I was wondering if the website have only whats available, or they'll add more later.

Just to clarify. Does the denim stretch 2 inches because people wear them tight. Or does it stretch because the fabric is designed like that.

Could anyone post the measurements of size 27 or 28 New Standards. Pre or post stretching, both help. I just bought some 28x30 Levi Skinners and they are way too tight in the thigh, and I don't want to make the same mistake with the NS.

AFAIK, the Straight/Rescue doesn't come any smaller than a 29, which will actually measure (before any stretching) closer to a 31 or possibly even a 32. As for the stretching, APC is weird for a couple reasons. First, most models are ridiculously vanity-sized--like the Straight (Rescue) or New Standard, where for a decent fit most people need to size down 1 or 2 from their normal jeans size. Then, in addition, the denim will stretch to about the width of your hips, and do so pretty quickly, regardless of whether . Most all dry denim will do this, largely because of how long people wear their dry denim before washing it, but APCs seem to stretch a little more and a little faster than other dry denim I've owned. Put that all together, and most people recommend sizing down two, or sometimes even three sizes. I would try them on if you're at all able....

I just recieved my APC straight jeans. I love them. I have 3 questions.
1. Does your APC pair say they are made in Macau?
2. Has the quality changed at all since the past 2-3 years?
3. Does the tag say "rescue" or "straight". Mine says rescue, i was wondering if i got an old batch and it is any different than the current year's model?

I was suprised to see Macau as well, especially after visiting several weeks ago. I'm always quietly thinking to myself, "the best damn things coming from China!"

However, I also noted Diesel shirts are made in China.

Wait, so all APCs are either tapered or straight? Blast it. Look nice though but cannot get myself to wear something of the sort.

ooooooookay. i'm looking to buy a pair of A.P.C New Standards. i just went through all 7 pages of this thread and there is plenty of information. but i have a couple of questions still: 1 - in typical jeans (Diesel, Earnest Sewn, Ben Sherman --- these are all i've got), i wear a 34" waist. i want my jeans to be fitted. certainly not SKIN-tight. like crushing my balls. but i don't like loose-fitting jeans much either. so i want them tight enough. and i loathe jeans that are "droopy and saggy" in the butt. terrible. this, i believe, is called anti-fit? not for me. SO, judging from the info in this thread -- i should go with a size 32"?? also --- how often are you guys washing your jeans?? do you put them in the washer machine??! what happens?? i haven't really read much mention of "washing" in this thread. i WASH my jeans. i can't be wearing jeans for a bloody year without washing them. LOL. so -- does this change the sizing i should order? should i order ones that are larger so they can shrink to fit when i wash them?? or should i actually truly wash them really infrequently?? SO there it is then. first question is if my sizing idea is correct --- 32" second is about how in the hell should i wash these jeans? and what will that do? OH. and also -- how long before these jeans begin to mold into my shape? till they whisker and all that fun jazz?
